They replied,“ He was wearing clothes made out of hair. He had a leather belt around his waist.” The king said,“ That was Elijah from Tishbe.”

They replied,“ He had a garment of hair and had a leather belt around his waist.” The king said,“ That was Elijah the Tishbite.”

They answered him,“ He wore a garment of hair, with a belt of leather about his waist.” And he said,“ It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

They replied,“ He was a hairy man, and he wore a leather belt around his waist.”“ Elijah from Tishbe!” the king exclaimed.

They replied,“ A hairy man with a leather belt around his waist.” He said,“ It’s Elijah the Tishbite.”

And they said to him,“ He was a hairy man with a leather belt worn around his waist.” And he said,“ It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

So they answered him,“ A hairy man wearing a leather belt around his waist.” And he said,“ It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

And they answered him, He was a hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

They replied,“ A hairy man with a leather belt around his waist.” He said,“ It’s Elijah the Tishbite.”

And they answered him,[ He was] an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It[ is] Elijah the Tishbite.

They replied,“ He was a hairy man and had a leather belt tied around his waist.” The king said,“ He is Elijah the Tishbite.”

They answered him,“ He was a hairy man, and wearing a leather belt around his waist.” He said,“ It’s Elijah the Tishbite.”

John’s clothes were made out of camel’s hair. He had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

“ At that time every prophet will be ashamed of the vision they see. They will no longer pretend to be a true prophet. They will not put on clothes that are made out of hair in order to trick people.

John wore clothes made out of camel’s hair. He had a leather belt around his waist. And he ate locusts and wild honey.

If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No. People who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces.

And he will prepare the way for the Lord. He will have the same spirit and power that Elijah had. He will bring peace between parents and their children. He will teach people who don’t obey to be wise and do what is right. In this way, he will prepare a people who are ready for the Lord.”

Three years earlier the Lord had spoken to Isaiah, the son of Amoz. The Lord had said,“ Take off the rough clothing you are wearing. And take off your sandals.” So Isaiah did. He went around barefoot and naked.

I will appoint my two witnesses. And they will prophesy for 1,260 days. They will be dressed in the rough clothes people wear when they’re sad.”
