他要救贖他們脫離欺壓和強暴；他們的血在他眼中看為寶貴。

我卻不以性命為念，也不看為寶貴，只要行完我的路程，成就我從主耶穌所領受的職事，證明神恩惠的福音。

掃羅說：「我有罪了！我兒大衛，你可以回來，因你今日看我的性命為寶貴；我必不再加害於你。我是糊塗人，大大錯了。」

叫他長遠活着，不見朽壞；因為贖他生命的價值極貴，只可永遠罷休。

因為，凡要救自己生命的，必喪掉生命；凡為我喪掉生命的，必得着生命。人若賺得全世界，賠上自己的生命，有甚麼益處呢？人還能拿甚麼換生命呢？

因為，妓女能使人只剩一塊餅；淫婦獵取人寶貴的生命。

以利亞回答說：「我若是神人，願火從天上降下來，燒滅你和你那五十人！」於是有火從天上降下來，燒滅五十夫長和他那五十人。王第二次差遣一個五十夫長，帶領五十人去見以利亞。五十夫長對以利亞說：「神人哪，王吩咐你快快下來！」

在耶和華眼中，看聖民之死極為寶貴。
