We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.

We are not like Moses. He used to cover his face with a veil. That was to keep the people of Israel from seeing the end of what was passing away.

and not like Moses who used to put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from staring at the result of the glory that was made ineffective.

說完之後，他就用帕子遮住自己的臉。每當進到會幕跟耶和華說話時，他就揭開帕子，出來後便把耶和華的吩咐告訴以色列百姓。百姓會看到他臉上發光，於是他再用帕子遮住臉，直到下次與耶和華說話的時候才揭開。

這最終帶來死亡、刻在石版上的律法條文的事工尚且有榮耀，甚至使摩西的臉上發出榮光，儘管很快就消逝了，以色列人仍然無法定睛看他，

因為基督耶穌親自給我們帶來了和平，以自己的身體拆毀了以色列人和外族人之間充滿敵意的隔牆，使雙方合而為一，並廢除了以誡命和規條為內容的律法制度。祂這樣做是為了在自己裡面把雙方造成一個新人，成就和平，

這些都不過是將來之事的影子，那真實的本體是基督。

信耶穌的時代還沒有來臨以前，律法暫時監管我們。等到信耶穌之道顯明出來後，律法就不再監管我們。因此，律法是我們的監護人，負責引領我們歸向基督，使我們可以因信而被稱為義人。

其實基督是律法的終極目的，使所有信靠祂的人都可以得到義。

律法只是將來美事的一個投影，並非本體的真像，所以年復一年的獻祭不能使前來敬拜的人純全。否則，獻祭的事早已終止了，因為敬拜的人若獻一次祭就能徹底得到潔淨，他們就不再覺得有罪了。然而，每年獻祭的事都使人想起自己的罪來，因為公牛和山羊的血根本不能除去人的罪。所以，基督來到世上的時候曾說：「上帝啊，祭物和供物非你所悅，你為我預備了身體。你並非喜愛燔祭和贖罪祭。於是我說，『上帝啊，我來是要遵行你的旨意，我的事都記在聖經上了。』」基督首先說：「祭物、供物、燔祭和贖罪祭都不是你想要的，也不是你喜悅的。」這些都是依照律法獻上的。然後祂又說：「我來是要遵行你的旨意。」這樣，祂廢除了前者，為要設立後者。
