Another reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything.

I wrote to you for another special reason. I wanted to see if you could stand the test. I wanted to see if you could obey everything asked of you.

For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.

因此，虽然我给你们写过信，但并非为了那犯错的人或那受害的人而写的，而是为了让你们在上帝面前看到自己对我们所存的热心。我们也因此得到了激励。令我们更欢喜的是提多也很喜乐，因为他的心从你们那里得到了安慰。我若对提多夸奖了你们什么，也不觉得惭愧，因为我先前向提多夸奖你们的话都证明是真实的，正如我告诉你们的一切都是真实的。提多想到你们众人的顺服并怎样战战兢兢地接待他，便更加爱你们了。

如果有人不听从这信上的教导，要注意提防他，不要和他来往，好使他羞愧。

在旷野中把你们祖先从未见过的吗哪赐给你们吃，为要磨炼你们、考验你们，使你们最终得到益处。

我写信给你，深信你一定会照办，甚至超过我的要求。

要记住这四十年来你们的上帝耶和华怎样在旷野引领你们，祂磨炼你们、考验你们，好知道你们的心意如何、肯不肯遵守祂的诫命。

所以，你们要在众教会面前向他们证明你们的爱心，以及我夸耀你们的话并非虚言。

所以，我亲爱的弟兄姊妹，既然我在你们那里的时候，你们一向都很顺服；如今我不在你们那里，你们更要顺服，要战战兢兢地活出得救后应有的生命。

耶和华对摩西说：“我要从天上降下食物给你们。百姓可以每天出去拾取他们当天所需的分量，这样我就可以试验他们是否遵行我的训诲。

你们也不可听从他们。因为这是你们的上帝耶和华在试验你们，要看看你们是否全心全意地爱祂。
