Each time he said,“ My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

But he said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

But he said to me,“ My grace is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak.” So I am very happy to brag about how weak I am. Then Christ’s power can rest on me.

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

This is my command— be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me— and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.

It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Instead, be very glad— for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.

That experience is worth boasting about, but I’m not going to do it. I will boast only about my weaknesses.

With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees.Say to those with fearful hearts,“ Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.”

Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.

But Moses pleaded with the Lord,“ O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue tied, and my words get tangled.”Then the Lord asked Moses,“ Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord?Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”But Moses again pleaded,“ Lord, please! Send anyone else.”Then the Lord became angry with Moses.“ All right,” he said.“ What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he speaks well. And look! He is on his way to meet you now. He will be delighted to see you.Talk to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will instruct you both in what to do.

for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!

We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy,

quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.

“ God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

May the bolts of your gates be of iron and bronze; may you be secure all your days.”“ There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor.The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out,‘ Destroy them!’

I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.

When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time.For it is not you who will be speaking— it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Then the one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing in front of me,“ I am filled with anguish because of the vision I have seen, my lord, and I am very weak.How can someone like me, your servant, talk to you, my lord? My strength is gone, and I can hardly breathe.”Then the one who looked like a man touched me again, and I felt my strength returning.“ Don’t be afraid,” he said,“ for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!” As he spoke these words to me, I suddenly felt stronger and said to him,“ Please speak to me, my lord, for you have strengthened me.”

For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.

If I must boast, I would rather boast about the things that show how weak I am.

Then the Lord will provide shade for Mount Zion and all who assemble there. He will provide a canopy of cloud during the day and smoke and flaming fire at night, covering the glorious land.It will be a shelter from daytime heat and a hiding place from storms and rain.

“ O Sovereign Lord,” I said,“ I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”The Lord replied,“ Don’t say,‘ I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said,“ Look, I have put my words in your mouth!

Jesus came and told his disciples,“ I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.

For I hold you by your right hand— I, the Lord your God. And I say to you,‘ Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don’t be afraid, people of Israel, for I will help you. I am the Lord, your Redeemer. I am the Holy One of Israel.’You will be a new threshing instrument with many sharp teeth. You will tear your enemies apart, making chaff of mountains.You will toss them into the air, and the wind will blow them all away; a whirlwind will scatter them. Then you will rejoice in the Lord. You will glory in the Holy One of Israel.

I will gladly spend myself and all I have for you, even though it seems that the more I love you, the less you love me.

And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

But Moses protested to God,“ Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”God answered,“ I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.”

When the group of prophets from Jericho saw from a distance what happened, they exclaimed,“ Elijah’s spirit rests upon Elisha!” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.
