弟兄们，我们不要你们不知道，我们从前在亚细亚遭遇苦难，因受到无法忍受的压力，甚至连活命的指望都没有了。

弟兄姊妹，希望你们知道我们在亚细亚所遭遇的苦难。那时我们承受极大的压力，超过了我们的极限，甚至连活命的指望都没了。

弟兄们，我们在亚西亚遭受的患难，我们很想让你们知道。那时我们受到了过于我们所能忍受的压力，甚至活下去的希望都没有了，

弟兄们，我们不愿意你们不明白我们在亚细亚省所遭受的患难：我们所受的压力远远过于我们的承受能力，甚至连活下去的希望也没有了。

弟兄們，我們不要你們不曉得，我們從前在亞細亞遭遇苦難，被壓太重，力不能勝，甚至連活命的指望都絕了；

弟兄們，我們不要你們不知道，我們從前在亞細亞遭遇苦難，因受到無法忍受的壓力，甚至連活命的指望都沒有了。

弟兄們，我們不願意你們不明白我們從前在亞西亞所受的苦難，就是：極受重壓，出於力所能勝之外，甚至到了絕望，連活着的希望都沒有；

弟兄們，我們不願意你們不明白我們在亞細亞省所遭受的患難：我們所受的壓力遠遠過於我們的承受能力，甚至連活下去的希望也沒有了。

兄弟乎、我欲爾知、我在亞西亞遭難、見壓特甚、勢不克勝、至絕生望、

吾欲兄弟知、吾在亞西亞遭苦、見壓特甚、勢不可當、欲保生命、已絕其望、

兄弟、我不欲爾不知、我在亞西亞遭難、被迫特甚、勢不可當、致絕保生命之望、

吾儕在亞西亞所遭遇之患難、不欲兄弟不之知也。當時吾儕所受之困阨、實非人力之所能當者、且自謂必不能倖免矣。

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the hard times we had in Asia Minor. We were having a lot of trouble. It was far more than we could stand. We even thought we were going to die.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself.

We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it.

We don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction that took place in Asia. We were completely overwhelmed— beyond our strength— so that we even despaired of life itself.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction which occurred in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life.

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.

For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

For we don’t want you to be unaware, brothers, of our affliction that took place in Asia: we were completely overwhelmed— beyond our strength— so that we even despaired of life.

For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, regarding the affliction that happened to us in the province of Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of living.

For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.

從人的觀點看來，我當日在以弗所同野獸搏鬥，對我有甚麼益處呢？如果死人沒有復活，「讓我們吃吃喝喝吧！因為明天要死了。」

我們有這寶貝放在瓦器裏，為要顯明這莫大的能力是出於神，不是出於我們。我們處處受困，卻不被捆住；內心困擾，卻沒有絕望；遭受迫害，卻不被撇棄；擊倒在地，卻不致滅亡。我們身上常帶着耶穌的死，使耶穌的生也在我們身上顯明。因為我們這活着的人常為耶穌被置於死地，使耶穌的生命在我們這必死的人身上顯明出來。這樣看來，死是在我們身上運作，生卻在你們身上運作。

因為有又寬大又有效的門為我開了，雖然反對的人也多。

你們已經飽足了，已經富足了，用不着我們，自己就作王了。我願意你們果真作王，讓我們也可以與你們一同作王！

那時，因這道路而起的騷動不小。有一個銀匠，名叫底米丟，是製造亞底米神銀龕的，他使從事這手藝的人生意發達。他聚集他們和同行的工人，說：「諸位，你們知道我們是倚靠這生意發財的。你們看到，也聽見這保羅不但在以弗所，也幾乎在亞細亞全地，引誘迷惑了許多人，說：『人手所做的不是神明。』這樣，不僅我們這行業陷入被藐視的危險，就是大女神亞底米的廟也要被人輕看，連亞細亞全地和普天下所敬拜的女神的威望也受損害了。」眾人聽見，就怒氣沖沖，喊着說：「大哉，以弗所人的亞底米！」於是滿城都騷動起來。眾人抓住與保羅同行的馬其頓人該猶和亞里達古，齊心衝進劇場。保羅想要進到民眾那裏，門徒卻不許他去。連亞細亞的幾位官員，是保羅的朋友，也打發人來勸他不要冒險到劇場裏去。聚集的人亂成一團，有的喊這個，有的喊那個，大半不知道為了甚麼聚集。猶太人把亞歷山大推出去，人羣中有人慫恿他，他就做手勢，要向民眾申訴。但他們一認出他是猶太人，大家就異口同聲喊着：「大哉，以弗所人的亞底米！」約喊了兩小時。城裏的書記官安撫了羣眾後，說：「以弗所人哪，誰不知道以弗所人的城是看守大亞底米的廟和從宙斯那裏落下來的像的守護者呢？

大衛又起誓說：「你父親確實知道我在你眼前蒙恩。所以他說，『這事不要讓約拿單知道，免得他愁煩。』我指着永生的耶和華起誓，又指着你的性命起誓，我離死只差一步而已。」

大衛心裏說：「總有一天我會死在掃羅手裏，現在我最好逃到非利士人的地去，掃羅就會絕望，不會繼續在以色列全境內尋索我了。這樣，我才可以脫離他的手。」
