“从犹大王亚们的儿子约西亚执政第十三年，到今天已有二十三年。在这期间，我不断把耶和华对我说的话传给你们，你们却充耳不闻。耶和华屡次差遣祂的仆人——众先知警告你们，你们却充耳不闻，毫不理会。

我对你们的所作所为一再提出警告，你们却充耳不闻；我呼唤你们，你们却不回应。这是耶和华说的。

从你们的祖先离开埃及那天起，一直到今天，我日复一日地差遣我的仆人——众先知到你们那里，

耶稣快到耶路撒冷时，看见那城就哀哭，说：“今天你若知道那能带给你平安的事就好了！可惜这事现在是隐藏的，你看不见！因为有一天敌人要在你周围筑起壁垒把你团团围住，四面攻击你。他们要把你夷为平地，毁灭你城墙里的儿女，不会留下两块叠在一起的石头，因为你没有认识到上帝眷顾你的时刻。”

我屡次差遣我的仆人——众先知警告他们不要再做令我深恶痛绝的事，他们却毫不理会，不肯改掉向假神烧香的恶行。

不听从我屡次派我的仆人——众先知传给你们的话，

耶和华因为与亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的约，就恩待以色列人，怜悯、眷顾他们，至今仍不愿灭绝他们，没有把他们从自己面前赶走。

他们离弃他们祖先的上帝耶和华的殿，去供奉亚舍拉神像及其他偶像。因他们所犯的罪，上帝的烈怒临到犹大和耶路撒冷。但耶和华仍然派先知到他们中间，引导他们归向祂。先知警告他们，他们却不听。上帝的灵感动了耶何耶大祭司的儿子撒迦利亚，他便站在高处对民众说：“耶和华上帝这样说，‘你们为什么违反耶和华的诫命，以致不得亨通呢？既然你们背弃我，我也必离弃你们。’”他们想谋害撒迦利亚，就照着王的命令，在耶和华殿的院子里用石头打死了他。

以色列人除掉了他们的外邦神像，转而事奉耶和华。耶和华不忍再看以色列人受苦。

耶和华借着祂的众先知和先见警告以色列人和犹大人说：“你们要离开恶道，遵守我的诫命和律例，即我吩咐你们祖先遵守并借着我的仆人——众先知传给你们的律法。”

耶和华警告玛拿西和他的百姓，他们却不肯听从。

以法莲啊，我怎能舍弃你？以色列啊，我怎能弃绝你？我怎能使你的下场如押玛？我怎能对待你如对待洗扁？我的心意改变，我满怀怜爱。
