就是那些在房顶上敬拜天上万象的，那些敬拜耶和华，指着他起誓，又指着玛勒公起誓的，

‘耶路撒冷的房屋和犹大列王的宫殿，都要像陀斐特一样成为不洁；人曾在这一切房屋宫殿的屋顶上，向天上的万象烧香，向别神浇奠祭。’”

他废除了从前犹大列王所立、在犹大各城的邱坛，和耶路撒冷的周围焚香拜偶像的祭司。又废除向巴力、日、月、星辰和天上万象焚香的人。他把亚舍拉像从耶和华殿里搬走，拿到耶路撒冷外的汲沦溪去，在汲沦溪把它烧毁，磨碎成灰，把灰撒在平民的坟墓上。

又恐怕你抬头望天，看见日、月、星，就是天上万象的时候，就被勾引，去敬拜和事奉它们，那原是耶和华你们的神分给天下万民享用的。

以色列人行了耶和华看为恶的事，去事奉众巴力；他们离弃了领他们出埃及的耶和华、他们列祖的神，去跟从别的神，就是他们周围各族的神，敬拜他们，惹耶和华发怒。他们离弃了耶和华，去事奉巴力和亚斯他录。

这希西家不是曾经把耶和华的邱坛和祭坛除去，吩咐犹大和耶路撒冷的人说：你们要在一个坛前敬拜，要在它上面烧香吗？

他们又为自己在各高冈上，各茂盛树下建造邱坛、神柱和亚舍拉。

他们的儿女也怀念着那些在各高冈上、在繁茂树旁的祭坛和亚舍拉。

抛散在太阳、月亮和天上的万象之下，就是他们从前所爱慕、服事、跟随、求问、敬拜的。这些骸骨必不再被收殓埋葬，必在地面上成为粪肥。

于是神转身离开，任凭他们事奉天象，正如先知书所说：‘以色列家啊，你们在旷野四十年，岂是将祭牲和祭物献给我呢？

他重新建造邱坛，就是他父亲希西家所拆毁的；又为巴力建立祭坛，做亚舍拉，好像以色列王亚哈所做的，并且敬拜事奉天上的万象。

那人将来是智是愚，有谁晓得呢？可是他竟要掌管一切我劳碌得来的，就是我在日光之下用智慧得来的。这又是虚空。

他又除去犹大列王献给日头的马匹；这些马匹是在耶和华殿的入口处，靠近太监拿单．米勒在院子里的住宅。他又把献给日头的战车用火烧掉。

他却随从以色列诸王的道路，又为巴力铸造偶像；并且在欣嫩子谷烧香，用火焚烧自己的儿女，像耶和华在以色列人面前驱走的外族人所行可厌恶的事一样；又在邱坛上、山冈上和各青翠树下，献祭烧香。
