『永恆主必將你和你所立來管你的王領到你和你列祖素來不認識的國去；在那裏你必事奉別的神、是木頭石頭的。

以色列人見自己危急（因為以色列民真地窘迫），就藏在山洞、叢林、碞穴、地窘、或坑井中，

迦勒底人將王捉住，把他帶上去到利比拉巴比倫王那裏，就宣佈判語來定他的罪。

他必豎起旌旗招一國的人從遠方而來，吹口哨叫他們從地儘邊來到；看吧，他們必迅速輕快地趕來；他們中間沒有疲乏或跌倒的，沒有打盹或睡覺的；他們的腰帶並不放鬆，他們的鞋帶也不折斷；他們的箭快利，他們的弓都上了弦；他們的馬蹄算來像火石，他們的車輪好像旋風。他們的吼叫像母獅；他們吼叫像少壯獅子；他們咆哮，攫取可抓撕的，逕自叼去，無人援救。當那日子、他們必向這地咆吼着，就像海嘯之嘩嘩；人若望着這地，就只見黑暗災難；亮光在雲霧中都變為黑暗了。

『現在呢、我們的上帝啊，至大、至有能力、至可畏懼、守約守堅愛的上帝啊，我們、我們的王和首領、我們的祭司和神言人、我們的列祖和你的眾民、從亞述列王的日子直到今日所遭遇的一切艱難困苦、求你不要看為小事。

他們若被鎖鍊捆鎖着，若被苦難的繩索纏住，他就把他們的惡行為和過犯指示他們，使他們知道他們的自誇強大。他也開啓他們的耳朵、使受管教，吩咐他們離開罪孽而轉回。他們若聽從而事奉他，就必興隆順遂度盡年日，安安樂樂地過歲月。

有人坐在幽暗漆黑中，被困苦和鐵鍊捆鎖着，因為他們違背了上帝說的話，藐視至高者的意旨，上帝就用勞苦來制伏他們的心；他們跌倒，也沒有人幫助。於是他們在急難中呼求永恆主拯救他們脫離他們的窘迫；永恆主就領了他們從幽暗漆黑中出來，掙開他們的捆綁。

這地豐富的出產竟歸了列王，就是你因我們的罪所派來管轄我們的；他們也任意轄制我們這些人的身體和我們的牲口呢；我們真是受着大困迫啊。』

若不然，你怎能使我主上最小的臣僕之中之一個軍長轉臉而逃呢？你竟倚靠埃及要得戰車和駿馬呀！
