希西迦執政第四年，即以拉的兒子以色列王何細亞執政第七年，亞述王撒縵以色起兵攻打撒瑪利亞城，將城包圍。

他們除去耶路撒冷的祭壇和所有香壇，把它們丟進汲淪溪。

耶和華啊，亞述諸王確實掃滅列國，使其土地荒涼，

他說，『我的臣僕都要做藩王！

在希西迦忠心地辦好這些事以後，亞述王西拿基立起兵入侵猶大，圍攻各堅城，企圖攻佔這些城。

希西迦其他的事蹟和成就，包括怎樣建造水池和挖溝引水入城，都記在猶大的列王史上。

希西迦王執政第十四年，亞述王西拿基立起兵攻取了猶大所有的堅城。

以利沙就回去了。他宰了兩頭耕牛，用耕具作柴煮肉分給眾人，然後去跟隨以利亞，服侍他。
