Kore and his Levite companions also handed out gifts to the priests. The priests were listed by their families in their family history. Those Levites also handed out gifts to the Levites who were 20 years old or more. Each group did all the different things it was supposed to do.

又按宗族家谱分给祭司，按班次职任分给二十岁以外的利未人，

也发放给按父家登录在家谱的祭司；又按班次职任分给二十岁以上的利未人，

又頒於祭司、循其宗族譜系、又頒於利未人、自二十歲以上、循其班次職任、

祭司依其世系、利未人依其班列、自二十歲以上、爰及妻孥、凡在會中潔己者、當以所獻之物頒之、一以均平為本、

又頒於祭司、循宗族入譜系者、又頒於利未人、自二十歲以上循班列盡職者、

And they distributed to the priests enrolled by their families in the genealogical records and likewise to the Levites twenty years old or more, according to their responsibilities and their divisions.

The enrollment of the priests was according to their fathers’ houses; that of the Levites from twenty years old and upward was according to their offices, by their divisions.

They distributed gifts to the priests who were listed by their families in the genealogical records, and to the Levites twenty years old or older who were listed according to their jobs and their divisions.

They distributed also to those recorded by genealogy of the priests by their ancestral families and the Levites twenty years old and above, by their responsibilities in their divisions;

as well as the priests who were enrolled genealogically according to their fathers’ households, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, by their duties and their divisions.

and to the priests who were written in the genealogy according to their father’s house, and to the Levites from twenty years old and up according to their work, by their divisions,

and them that were reckoned by genealogy of the priests by their fathers’ houses, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their offices by their courses;

They distributed also to those recorded by genealogy of the priests by their ancestral families and the Levites 20 years old and above, by their responsibilities in their divisions;

Both to the genealogy of the priests by the house of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their courses;

They made disbursements to the priests listed in the genealogical records by their families, and to the Levites twenty years old and up, according to their duties as assigned to their divisions,

and those who were listed by genealogy of the priests by their fathers’ houses, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their offices by their divisions;

Those were the family lines of Levi. They were recorded under the names of the family leaders. Each worker who was 20 years old or more was counted. They served in the Lord’ s temple.

The Levites who were 20 years old or more were counted. That was in keeping with David’s final directions.

Hezekiah put the priests and Levites in groups based on their duties. The priests sacrificed burnt offerings and friendship offerings. The Levites served the Lord by giving thanks and singing praises at the gates of his house.

The men of Gershon were counted family by family.

The major families from Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These were the major families of the Levites.

“ Here is what the Levites must do. Men 25 years old or more must come and take part in the work at the tent of meeting.

Many people came up to Judah from the towns of Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Kerub, Addon and Immer. But they weren’t able to prove that their families belonged to the people of Israel.

So Moses and Aaron counted all the Levites. The leaders of Israel helped them. They counted the Levites family by family.

Here are the other members of the family line of Levi. From the sons of Amram came Shubael. From the sons of Shubael came Jehdeiah.From the sons of Rehabiah came Ishiah. Ishiah was the oldest.From the people of Izhar came Shelomoth. From the sons of Shelomoth came Jahath.Jeriah was the first son of Hebron. Amariah was his second son. Jahaziel was the third. Jekameam was the fourth.The son of Uzziel was Micah. From the sons of Micah came Shamir.The brother of Micah was Ishiah. From the sons of Ishiah came Zechariah.The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. The son of Jaaziah was Beno.The sons of Merari from Jaaziah were Beno, Shoham, Zakkur and Ibri.From Mahli came Eleazar. Eleazar didn’t have any sons.From Kish came Jerahmeel. Jerahmeel was the son of Kish.The sons of Mushi were Mahli, Eder and Jerimoth. Those were the Levites, family by family.They cast lots just as their relatives had done. Their relatives were in the family line of Aaron. They cast lots in front of King David, Zadok and Ahimelek. They did it in front of the family leaders of the priests. They also did it in front of the family leaders of the Levites. The families of the oldest brother were treated in the same way as the families of the youngest.David and the commanders of the army set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun. They set them apart to serve the Lord by prophesying while harps, lyres and cymbals were being played. Here is the list of the men who served in that way.From the sons of Asaph came Zakkur, Joseph, Nethaniah and Asarelah. The sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph. He prophesied under the king’s direction.From the sons of Jeduthun came Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah and Mattithiah. The total number was six. They were under the direction of their father Jeduthun. He prophesied while playing the harp. He used it to thank and praise the Lord.From the sons of Heman came Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti- Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir and Mahazioth.All of them were sons of the king’s prophet Heman. They were given to Heman to bring him honor. That’s what God had promised. God gave him 14 sons and three daughters.All of them were under the direction of their father. They played music for the Lord’ s temple. They served at the house of God by playing cymbals, lyres and harps. Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman were under the king’s direction.All of them were trained and skilled in playing music for the Lord. Their total number was 288. That included their relatives.Young and old alike cast lots for their duties. That was true for students as well as teachers.The 1st lot chosen was for Asaph. It was for Joseph and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12. The 2nd lot was for Gedaliah and his relatives and sons. The total number was 12.The 3rd was for Zakkur and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 4th was for Izri and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 5th was for Nethaniah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 6th was for Bukkiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 7th was for Jesarelah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 8th was for Jeshaiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 9th was for Mattaniah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 10th was for Shimei and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 11th was for Azarel and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 12th was for Hashabiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 13th was for Shubael and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 14th was for Mattithiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 15th was for Jerimoth and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 16th was for Hananiah and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.The 19th was for Mallothi and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.

Count all the men 30 to 50 years old. Those are the men who must come and serve at the tent of meeting.

The men of Merari were counted family by family.

“ Count the Levites by their family groups. Count every male a month old or more.”

“ Speak to the Israelites. Get 12 walking sticks from them. Get one from the leader of each of Israel’s tribes. Write the name of each man on his walking stick.Write Aaron’s name on Levi’s walking stick. There must be one stick for the head of each of Israel’s tribes.
