Our parents were unfaithful; they did evil in the eyes of the Lord our God and forsook him. They turned their faces away from the Lord’s dwelling place and turned their backs on him.

他們對木頭說：‘你是我爸爸’；對石頭說：‘你是生我的’。他們以背向我，不以臉向我；然而遭遇患難時卻說：‘起來，救救我們吧！’

但是我們的列祖狂妄自大，硬著頸項，不聽從你的命令。

我們的先祖犯了罪，現在他們不在了；我們卻要擔負他們的罪孽。

“你們和你們的列祖，以及你們的君王、領袖，和全國的人民，在猶大的各城和耶路撒冷的街上燒的香，耶和華怎能忘記，他心裡怎能不想起呢？

你這不是自作自受嗎？耶和華你的神在路上引導你時，你卻離棄了他。

從我們列祖的日子直到今日，我們罪惡深重，由於我們的罪孽，我們和我們的王，以及祭司，都被交在各地的列王手中：被刀殺、被擄掠、被搶奪，丟臉蒙羞，就像今天的光景一樣。

但因為我們的祖先激怒了天上的神，神就把他們交在迦勒底人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的手中；尼布甲尼撒就拆毀這殿，把人民擄到巴比倫去。

主啊！求你按著你的一切公義，使你的怒氣和忿怒轉離你的城耶路撒冷，就是你的聖山；因我們的罪和我們列祖的罪孽的緣故，耶路撒冷和你的子民成了在我們四圍的人羞辱的對象。

他向擊敗了他的大馬士革的神獻祭，說：“亞蘭王的神幫助了他們，我也向它們獻祭，使它們也幫助我。”它們卻使他和以色列人滅亡。亞哈斯把神殿裡的器皿收集起來，把這些神殿裡的器皿都擊碎了，又封閉了耶和華殿的各門，並且在耶路撒冷的各個角落建造祭壇。他又在猶大各城建造邱壇，向別的神燒香，惹怒他列祖的神。

他卻隨從以色列諸王的道路，又為巴力鑄造偶像；並且在欣嫩子谷燒香，用火焚燒自己的兒女，像耶和華在以色列人面前驅走的外族人所行可厭惡的事一樣；又在邱壇上、山岡上和各青翠樹下，獻祭燒香。

“因為我的子民作了兩件惡事，就是離棄了我這活水的泉源，為自己鑿了池子，是破裂不能存水的池子。

耶和華，我的力量、我的堡壘、我遭難時的避難所啊！萬國要從地極前來朝見你，說：“我們列祖所承受的只是虛假的偶像，是虛空、一無用處的。

“你們去，為我、也為以色列和猶大的餘民，求問耶和華關於我們發現的這書上的話；因為我們的列祖沒有謹守耶和華的話，也沒有照著這書上所記的一切去行，所以耶和華才向我們大發烈怒。”

愛父母過於愛我的，不配作屬我的；愛兒女過於愛我的，不配作屬我的；

並且說：‘我們若活在我們祖先的時代，決不會與他們一同流先知的血。’這樣，你們就指證自己是殺害先知的人的子孫了。那麼，去完成你們祖先的罪孽吧！

“我們的神啊，你是至大、全能、至可畏、守約施慈愛的神，現在求你不要把我們、我們的君王和領袖、我們的祭司和先知、我們的列祖和你的眾民，從亞述列王的日子直到今日所遭遇的一切苦難，看為小事。
