The priests went into the sanctuary of the Lord to purify it. They brought out to the courtyard of the Lord’s temple everything unclean that they found in the temple of the Lord. The Levites took it and carried it out to the Kidron Valley.

The priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord to cleanse it, and they brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the Lord into the court of the house of the Lord. And the Levites took it and carried it out to the brook Kidron.

耶穌說了這些話，就與他的門徒們一起出去，過了汲淪溪谷。在那裡有一個園子，耶穌和他的門徒們進去了。

當地的人都放聲大哭，全體民眾過去後，王也過了汲淪溪谷，全體民眾都踏上通往曠野的路。

耶穌進了聖殿，把所有在聖殿裡做買賣的人都趕了出去。他推翻了兌換銀幣之人的桌子和賣鴿子之人的凳子，對他們說：「經上記著：『我的殿將被稱為禱告的殿』，而你們卻使它成為賊窩了！」

「經文士和法利賽人哪，你們這些偽善的人有禍了！因為你們好像粉飾的墳墓，外面固然顯得美麗，裡面卻裝滿了死人骨頭和一切汙穢。

既然那些諸天之上事物的模型，必須用這些祭物來潔淨，那天上事物的本體就必須用比這些更好的祭物來潔淨，因為基督不是進入了人手所造的聖所——那不過是真聖所的象徵——而是進入了上天本身，如今替我們顯現在神的面前。

因為有預備好的會幕：第一間裡有燈臺、桌子和陳設餅，這叫做聖所；會幕第二層幔子後面，叫做至聖所，裡面有金香壇和四周包金的約櫃；櫃裡有盛著嗎哪的金罐、亞倫那根發過芽的杖和兩塊約版；約櫃上方有榮耀的基路伯，遮蔽著施恩座。關於這些，現在就不一一細說了。既然這些東西都這樣預備好了，祭司們就常常進入第一間會幕行事奉禮。至於第二間會幕，只有大祭司一年進去一次，沒有不帶著血的；這血是為自己和子民無意中犯的罪所獻上的。聖靈指明這一點：只要第一間會幕還存在，進入至聖所的道路就還沒有顯明出來。
