The men designated by name took the prisoners, and from the plunder they clothed all who were naked. They provided them with clothes and sandals, food and drink, and healing balm. All those who were weak they put on donkeys. So they took them back to their fellow Israelites at Jericho, the City of Palms, and returned to Samaria.

Azariah, Berekiah, Jehizkiah and Amasa received the prisoners. From the goods that had been taken, they gave clothes to everyone who was naked. They gave them clothes, sandals, food, drink and healing lotion. They put all the weak people on donkeys. They took them back to their relatives at Jericho. Then they returned to Samaria. Jericho was also known as the City of Palm Trees.

於是，以法蓮人的幾個領袖，就是約哈難的兒子亞撒利雅、米實利末的兒子比利家、沙龍的兒子耶希西家、哈得萊的兒子亞瑪撒，起來攔阻從戰場上回來的人，

若是弟兄或是姊妹沒有衣服穿，又缺少日用的飲食；你們中間有人對他們說：「平平安安地去吧！願你們穿得暖，吃得飽」，卻不給他們身體所需要的，這有甚麼益處呢？

又有行善的名聲，就如養育兒女，收留外人，洗聖徒的腳，救濟遭難的人，竭力行各樣善事。

不但如此，「你的仇敵若餓了，就給他吃；若渴了，就給他喝。因為你這樣做，就是把炭火堆在他的頭上。」不要被惡所勝，反要以善勝惡。

耶穌上了岸，就有城裏一個被鬼附的人迎着他走來。這個人好久不穿衣服，不住在屋子裏，而住在墳墓裏。

「可是我告訴你們這些聽的人，要愛你們的仇敵！要善待恨你們的人！

彼得就起身和他們同去。他到了，就有人領他上樓。眾寡婦都站在彼得旁邊哭，拿多加與她們同在時所做的內衣外衣給他看。

我們堅強的人應該分擔不堅強的人的軟弱，不求自己的喜悅。

因為我餓了，你們給我吃；渴了，你們給我喝；我流浪在外，你們留我住；我赤身露體，你們給我穿；我病了，你們看顧我；我在監獄裏，你們來看我。』義人就回答：『主啊，我們甚麼時候見你餓了，給你吃；渴了，給你喝？甚麼時候見你流浪在外，留你住；或是赤身露體，給你穿？又甚麼時候見你病了，或是在監獄裏，來看你呢？』王回答他們說：『我實在告訴你們，這些事你們做在我弟兄中一個最小的身上，就是做在我身上了。』「王又要向那左邊的說：『你們這被詛咒的人，離開我！進入那為魔鬼和他的使者所預備的永火裏去！因為我餓了，你們沒有給我吃；渴了，你們沒有給我喝；我流浪在外，你們沒有留我住；我赤身露體，你們沒有給我穿；我病了，我在監獄裏，你們沒有來看顧我。』他們也要回答：『主啊，我們甚麼時候見你餓了，或渴了，或流浪在外，或赤身露體，或病了，或在監獄裏，沒有伺候你呢？』王要回答：『我實在告訴你們，這些事你們沒有做在任何一個最小的弟兄身上，就是沒有做在我身上了。』

眾人出來，要看發生了甚麼事；到了耶穌那裏，發現那人坐在耶穌腳前，鬼已離開了他，穿着衣服，神智清醒，他們就害怕。

造我在母腹中的，不也是造了他嗎？在母胎中使我們成形的，豈不是同一位嗎？「我若不讓貧寒人遂其所願，或是叫寡婦眼中失望，或獨自吃自己的食物，孤兒沒有吃其中些許；從我年輕時，孤兒就與我一同長大，我好像他的父親，我從出母腹就扶助寡婦；我若見人因無衣死亡，或見貧窮人毫無遮蓋；我若不使他真心為我祝福，不使他因我羊的毛得暖；我若舉手攻擊孤兒，因為在城門口見有幫助我的；情願我的肩膀從肩胛骨脫落，我的膀臂從肱骨折斷。因神降的災禍使我恐懼，因他的威嚴，我甚麼都不能。

凡有世上財物的，看見弟兄缺乏，卻關閉了惻隱的心，神的愛怎能住在他裏面呢？孩子們哪，我們相愛，不要只在言語或舌頭上，總要以行為和真誠表現出來。
