Now this is what you are to do: A third of you priests and Levites who are going on duty on the Sabbath are to keep watch at the doors,

Here’s what I want you to do. A third of you priests and Levites who are going on duty on the Sabbath day must guard the doors.

This is the thing that you shall do: of you priests and Levites who come off duty on the Sabbath, one third shall be gatekeepers,

This is what you must do. When you priests and Levites come on duty on the Sabbath, a third of you will serve as gatekeepers.

他們無論大小，都按着父系抽籤，分守各門。抽到東門的是示利米雅；他的兒子撒迦利亞是精明的謀士，抽到北門。俄別‧以東守南門，他的兒子守倉庫。書聘與何薩守西門，在靠近沙利基門、通往上去的街道上，守衛與守衛相對。

利未人三十歲以上的都被數點，他們男丁的數目共有三萬八千；其中有二萬四千人管理耶和華殿的事務，有六千人作官長和審判官，有四千人作門口的守衛，又有四千人頌讚耶和華，用大衛造的樂器來頌讚。大衛把利未人革順、哥轄、米拉利的子孫分了班次。

撒迦利亞按班次在神面前執行祭司的職務，照祭司的規矩抽籤，進到主的殿裏燒香。

他們的弟兄住在村莊，每七日來與他們換班。

大衛和以利亞撒的子孫撒督，以及以他瑪的子孫亞希米勒，把他們按照任務分成班次，發現以利亞撒子孫中作領袖的，比以他瑪子孫中作領袖的更多，就分班如下：以利亞撒的子孫中有十六個族長，以他瑪的子孫中有八個族長。他們抽籤分配，彼此一樣。在聖所和神面前作領袖的有以利亞撒的子孫，也有以他瑪的子孫。作書記的利未人拿坦業的兒子示瑪雅在王和領袖，與撒督祭司、亞比亞他的兒子亞希米勒，以及祭司和利未人的族長面前記錄他們的名字；在以利亞撒的子孫中取一族，在以他瑪的子孫中也取一族。
