偶像必全然废弃。

拆毁祭坛，把亚舍拉和雕刻的像打碎成灰，砍断以色列全地所有的香坛。于是他回耶路撒冷去了。

众人在他面前拆毁诸巴力的坛，砍断坛上高高的香坛，又把亚舍拉和雕刻的像，以及铸造的像打碎成灰，撒在向偶像献祭之人的坟上，

那先知或那做梦的人要被处死，因为他出言悖逆那领你们出埃及地、救赎你脱离为奴之家的耶和华—你们的神，要引诱你离开耶和华—你神吩咐你要行的道。这样，你就把恶从你中间除掉。“你的同胞兄弟，或是你的儿女，或是你怀中的妻，或是如同自己性命的朋友，若暗中引诱你，说：‘我们去事奉别神吧。’那是你和你列祖所不认识的，你四围列国的神明，无论是离你近或离你远，从地这边到地那边，你都不可附和他，也不要听从他。你的眼不可顾惜他，不可怜悯他，也不可袒护他。你务必杀他；你先下手，然后众百姓才下手，把他处死。

耶户献完了燔祭，就对护卫兵和众军官说：“进去杀他们，不要让一人逃脱！”护卫兵和军官用刀杀了他们，将尸体抛出去，然后进入巴力庙的堡垒，将巴力庙中的柱像都拿出来焚烧。他们毁坏巴力的柱像，拆毁了巴力庙当厕所，直到今日。这样，耶户在以色列中消灭了巴力。

万军之耶和华说：“在那日，我要从地上除灭偶像的名，使它不再被记得；我也必使这地不再有先知，不再有污秽的灵。若还有人说预言，生他的父母必对他说：‘你不得存活，因为你假借耶和华的名说谎话。’生他的父母在他说预言时，要将他刺死。

他废去丘坛，毁坏柱像，砍下亚舍拉，打碎摩西所造的铜蛇，因为到那时以色列人仍向铜蛇烧香。人叫铜蛇为尼忽士但。

要拆毁他们的祭坛，打碎他们的柱像，用火焚烧他们的亚舍拉，砍断他们神明的雕刻偶像，并要从那地方除去他们的名。
