原来人并不知道自己的时机，正像鱼被恶网圈住，鸟被网罗捉住，险恶的时机忽然临到世人身上的时候，世人也照样陷在其中。

撒督祭司从帐幕里拿出那盛膏油的角，膏立所罗门；然后有人吹角，众民就说：“所罗门王万岁！”众民都跟随他上去，吹着笛子，十分欢乐，以致大地也因他们的声音震裂。

你这判断人的啊！无论你是谁，都没有办法推诿。你在什么事上判断人，就在什么事上定自己的罪；因为你所作的，正是你所判断的事。我们知道，神必照着真理审判行这些事的人。

义人增多的时候，人民就喜乐；恶人掌权的时候，人民就叹息。

耶和华对摩西说：“你要用银子作两枝号，要锤出来的，可以用来召集会众，也可以叫会众拔营起行。吹号的时候，全体会众都要到你那里，聚集在会幕的门口。如果单吹一枝，众领袖，就是以色列的族长，都要到你那里聚集。你们吹大声的时候，那在东边的营，都要起行。你们第二次吹大声的时候，那在南边的营，都要起行；他们要起行，必须吹大声。但召集会众的时候，你们要吹号，却不要吹大声。亚伦的子孙作祭司的要作吹号的；这要作你们世世代代永远的条例。你们在本地与欺压你们的仇敌作战的时候，就要吹大声，使你们在耶和华你们的神面前得蒙记念，也得拯救脱离你们的仇敌。此外，在你们快乐的日子和指定的节期，以及月朔，你们献燔祭和平安祭的时候，也要吹号，这都要在你们的神面前替你们作为记念；我是耶和华你们的神。”

他们必大大震惊，因为神在义人的群体中。

大卫和军队的领袖，也给亚萨、希幔和耶杜顿的子孙分派了任务，叫他们用琴瑟响钹说预言。他们任职的人数如下：亚萨的儿子有撒刻、约瑟、尼探雅和亚萨利拉；亚萨的儿子都归亚萨指挥，遵照王的旨意说预言。至于耶杜顿，他的儿子有基大利、西利、耶筛亚、示每、哈沙比雅和玛他提雅，共六人，都归他们的父亲耶杜顿指挥。耶杜顿用琴说预言，称谢和赞美耶和华。至于希幔，他的儿子有布基雅、玛探雅、乌薛、细布业、耶利摩、哈拿尼雅、哈拿尼、以利亚他、基大利提、罗幔提．以谢、约施比加沙、玛罗提、何提和玛哈秀。这些人都是希幔的儿子；希幔是王的先见，照着神的话高举他（“高举他”原文作“高举角”）。神赐给希幔十四个儿子，三个女儿。这些人都归他们的父亲指挥，在耶和华的殿里歌颂，用响钹和琴瑟在神的殿事奉。亚萨、耶杜顿和希幔都是由王指挥的。他们和他们的亲族，在歌颂耶和华的事上受过特别训练，精于歌唱的，人数共有二百八十八人。这些人，无论大小，不分师生，都一同抽签分班次。

大卫又吩咐利未支派的领袖，要指派他们的亲族负责歌唱，用琴瑟响钹各种乐器，欢欢喜喜高声歌唱。于是利未人指派了约珥的儿子希幔和他的亲族中比利家的儿子亚萨，以及他们的亲族米拉利的子孙中古沙雅的儿子以探。和他们一起的还有作第二班的，他们的亲族：撒迦利雅、便、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、乌尼、以利押、比拿雅、玛西雅、玛他提雅、以利斐利户、弥克尼雅，以及守门的俄别．以东和耶利。歌唱的希幔、亚萨和以探敲打铜钹，发出响亮的声音；撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、乌尼、以利押、玛西雅和比拿雅敲瑟，调用女高音；玛他提雅、以利斐利户、弥克尼雅、俄别．以东、耶利和亚撒西雅弹琴领导，调用男低音。利未支派的领袖基拿尼雅专责音乐，又教人音乐，因为他精通音乐。

于是众民手里拿着食物和号角；所有其他的以色列人，基甸都打发他们各回自己的帐棚去，只留下这三百人。当时米甸营就在他们下面的平原里。

在他们附近的人，甚至以萨迦、西布伦和拿弗他利支派的人，都用驴、骆驼、骡子和牛，给他们带来了很多食物：面饼、无花果饼、葡萄饼干、酒、油和许多牛羊，以色列全境就充满欢乐。

约兰立刻把车调转过来逃跑，对亚哈谢说：“亚哈谢啊，反了！”

王站在柱旁，在耶和华面前立约，要一心一意跟从耶和华，谨守他的诫命、典章和律例，实行这书上所写有关这约的话。众民都一同立约。

亚哈看见了以利亚，就问他：“给以色列惹麻烦的这个人就是你吗？”以利亚说：“给以色列惹麻烦的，不是我，而是你和你父的家；因为你们离弃了耶和华的诫命，又去随从巴力。

大卫和所有抬约柜的利未人，以及歌唱的人和歌唱的人的领袖基拿尼雅，都穿上细麻布的外袍；大卫另外穿上细麻布的以弗得。

我和所有与我在一起的人吹角的时候，你们也要在全营的四周吹角，喊叫说：‘为耶和华！为基甸！’”基甸和所有与他在一起的一百人，在半夜三更的起初，换更的时候，来到了营的边缘，就吹起角来，打破手中的瓦瓶。三队的人就都吹角，打破瓦瓶，左手紧握着火把，右手紧握着角不住地吹，并且喊叫说：“耶和华和基甸的刀！”他们在营的四周各站在自己的位置；全营的人都乱跑，他们一面叫喊，一面逃跑。三百人吹那三百枝角的时候，耶和华使全营的人用刀互相击杀，然后他们向着西利拉逃到伯．哈示他，直到靠近他巴的亚伯．米何拉河边。

他们就急忙把自己的衣服放在他脚下的上层（“上层”原文意思不详，或译：“没有装饰的”）台阶上，然后吹响号角宣告：“耶户作王了。”

义人亨通，全城欢乐；恶人灭亡，大家欢呼。

示巴尼、约沙法、拿坦业、亚玛赛、撒迦利雅、比拿亚和以利以谢几位祭司，在神的约柜前吹号；俄别．以东和耶希亚也作看守约柜的人。
