約沙法走他父親亞撒所走的路，總不偏離，乃行永恆主所看為對的事。

He followed the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.

Jehoshaphat followed the ways of his father Asa. He didn’t wander away from them. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.

He walked in the way of Asa his father and did not turn aside from it, doing what was right in the sight of the Lord.

Jehoshaphat was a good king, following the ways of his father, Asa. He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight.

He walked in the ways of Asa his father; he did not turn away from it but did what was right in the LORD’s sight.

He walked in the way of his father Asa and did not deviate from it, doing right in the sight of the Lord.

他口中的話是奸惡和詭詐；他跟明智和善行已經斷絕。

永恆主和約沙法同在，因為他行了他父親初行的道路，不尋求眾巴力，只尋求他父親的上帝，遵行上帝的誡命，不效法以色列人的作風而行。故此永恆主就堅立他手下的國；猶大眾人也給約沙法獻禮物；約沙法遂大有財富和尊榮。在永恆主的道路上他的心志很振奮；他還從猶大地除掉了邱壇和亞舍拉神木。

亞撒行了永恆主所看為對的事，像他的祖大衛一樣。

亞撒向永恆主他的上帝呼求說：『永恆主啊，在強盛者與軟弱無力者之間，除了你以外是沒有幫助者的。永恆主我們的上帝啊，求你幫助我們；因為我們依靠着你，我們奉你的名去對付這蜂擁軍兵。永恆主啊，你才是我們的上帝；不要讓人有把握勝過你哦。』於是永恆主把古實人擊敗在亞撒和猶大人面前，古實人就逃跑了。亞撒和跟隨的兵眾追趕了他們、直到基拉耳；古實人仆倒，沒有一個存活的；因為他們在永恆主和永恆主的軍兵面前被打得粉碎；猶大人就奪取了非常多掠物。

因為我守定了永恆主的道路；我未曾作惡離開我的上帝。

就在那時先見哈拿尼就來見猶大王亞撒，對他說：『因你依靠着亞蘭王，沒有依靠永恆主你的上帝、故此亞蘭王的軍隊才逃脫了你的手。古實人路比人不是有很大軍隊麼？他們所有的戰車駿馬不是極多麼？只因你依靠着永恆主，永恆主便將他們交在你手裏。永恆主的眼目在全地上看來看去；凡以純全之心向他的人、他就顯大權能去幫助他。在這一點上你幹了糊塗事了！從今以後、你總有戰事了。』亞撒就惱怒先見，把他下在枷架監裏，因為為了這事亞撒很生氣他。同時亞撒也對一些人民橫施殘酷。看哪，亞撒所行的事、始末都寫在《以色列和猶大諸王記》上呢。亞撒執掌國政第三十九年、他腳上患了病；他的病非常厲害；然而連他患病的時候、他都沒有尋求永恆主，只尋求着醫生。

亞撒行了永恆主他的上帝所看為好為對的事。他除掉了外人祭壇和邱壇，打碎了崇拜柱子，砍下了亞舍拉神木，吩咐猶大人要尋求永恆主他們列祖的上帝，遵行他的律法誡命。他又從猶大各城除掉了邱壇和香壇。在他手下國中享太平。
