耶羅波安王就籌劃定妥，鑄造了兩個金牛犢，對眾民說：「以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去實在是難；這就是領你們出埃及地的神。」

她行這些事以後，我說她必歸向我，她卻不歸向我。她奸詐的妹妹猶大也看見了。背道的以色列行淫，我為這緣故給她休書休她；我看見她奸詐的妹妹猶大，還不懼怕，也去行淫。

犯了尼八的兒子耶羅波安所犯的罪；他還以為輕，又娶了西頓王謁巴力的女兒耶洗別為妻，去事奉敬拜巴力，在撒馬利亞建造巴力的廟，在廟裏為巴力築壇。亞哈又做亞舍拉，他所行的惹耶和華－以色列神的怒氣，比他以前的以色列諸王更甚。

這事以後，耶羅波安仍不離開他的惡道，將凡民立為邱壇的祭司；凡願意的，他都分別為聖，立為邱壇的祭司。這事叫耶羅波安的家陷在罪裏，甚至他的家從地上除滅了。

他在八月十五日，就是他私自所定的月日，為以色列人立作節期的日子，在伯特利上壇燒香。

這事叫百姓陷在罪裏，因為他們往但去拜那牛犢。
