but sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel.

Instead, Jehoshaphat obeyed the God of his father. He obeyed the Lord’ s commands instead of the practices of Israel.

Even Judah did not keep the commands of the LORD their God but lived according to the customs Israel had practiced.

Additionally then, brothers and sisters, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received instruction from us on how you should live and please God— as you are doing— do this even more.

Israel, if you act promiscuously, don’t let Judah become guilty! Do not go to Gilgal or make a pilgrimage to Beth-aven, and do not swear an oath: As the LORD lives!

Both were righteous in God’s sight, living without blame according to all the commands and requirements of the Lord.

Ahab did more to anger the LORD God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

Even after this, Jeroboam did not repent of his evil way but again made priests for the high places from the ranks of the people. He ordained whoever so desired it, and they became priests of the high places.This was the sin that caused the house of Jeroboam to be cut off and obliterated from the face of the earth.

He offered sacrifices on the altar he had set up in Bethel on the fifteenth day of the eighth month. He chose this month on his own. He made a festival for the Israelites, offered sacrifices on the altar, and burned incense.

This led to sin; the people walked in procession before one of the calves all the way to Dan.
