他除掉了外人祭壇和邱壇，打碎了崇拜柱子，砍下了亞舍拉神木，吩咐猶大人要尋求永恆主他們列祖的上帝，遵行他的律法誡命。他又從猶大各城除掉了邱壇和香壇。在他手下國中享太平。
