罗波安住在耶路撒冷，他在犹大建造了多座设防城。他修筑了伯利恒、以坦、提哥亚、伯．夙、梭哥、亚杜兰、迦特、玛利沙、西弗、亚多莱音、拉吉、亚西加、琐拉、亚雅仑、希伯仑；这些都是犹大和便雅悯境内的设防城。他又巩固这些设防城，在城里设军长，贮备粮食、油和酒。又在各城装备了大盾牌和矛枪，使这些城市十分坚固。这样，犹大和便雅悯都在他统治之下。

于是国中太平了四十年。后来基纳斯的儿子俄陀聂死了。

所罗门又修筑希兰送给他的那些城市，使以色列人住在那里。所罗门到哈玛琐巴去，占领了那地方。所罗门又修筑了在旷野的达莫，和他在哈玛建造的一切贮藏货物的城市。他又建造上伯．和仑和下伯．和仑，成了有墙、有门和有闩的设防城；又建造巴拉和所罗门拥有的一切贮藏货物的城市，以及一切囤放战车的城市，马兵驻扎的城市，和所罗门在耶路撒冷、黎巴嫩，以及他统治的全境内喜爱建造的一切。

耶和华使以色列人得享平安，不受四围仇敌的骚扰，已经有一段很长的日子；约书亚已经老了，年纪不小了。

他使战争止息，直到地极；他把弓折毁，把矛砍断，把战车用火焚烧。

这样，从那天起，摩押就在以色列人的手下被制伏了，于是国中太平了八十年。

耶和华啊，愿你所有的仇敌都这样灭亡；愿爱他的人像太阳出现，大有能力。”于是国中太平了四十年。

但是，现在耶和华我的神使我四境太平，没有仇敌，也没有灾祸。
