Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime.“ How would you advise me to answer these people?” he asked.

Then King Rehoboam asked the elders for advice. They had served his father Solomon while he was still living. Rehoboam asked them,“ What advice can you give me? How should I answer these people?”

Then King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he was yet alive, saying,“ How do you advise me to answer this people?”

Then King Rehoboam discussed the matter with the older men who had counseled his father, Solomon.“ What is your advice?” he asked.“ How should I answer these people?”

Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had attended his father Solomon when he was alive, asking,“ How do you advise me to respond to this people?”

And then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon while he was still alive, saying,“ How do you advise me to answer this people?”

Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who stood before his father Solomon while he still lived, saying,“ How do you advise me to answer these people?”

King Rehoboam consulted with the older advisers who had served his father Solomon when he had been alive. He asked them,“ How do you advise me to answer these people?”

I said,‘ Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’

For you have dealt deceitfully against your own souls; for you sent me to Yahweh your God, saying,‘ Pray for us to Yahweh our God; and according to all that Yahweh our God says, so declare to us, and we will do it.’

and said to Jeremiah the prophet,“ Please let our supplication be presented before you, and pray for us to Yahweh your God, even for all this remnant; for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes see us;that Yahweh your God may show us the way in which we should walk, and the things that we should do.”Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them,“ I have heard you. Behold, I will pray to Yahweh your God according to your words; and it will happen that whatever thing Yahweh answers you, I will declare it to you. I will keep nothing back from you.”Then they said to Jeremiah,“ May Yahweh be a true and faithful witness among us, if we don’t do according to all the word with which Yahweh your God sends you to tell us.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who is wise listens to counsel.

Then Absalom said,“ Now call Hushai the Archite also, and let’s hear likewise what he says.”When Hushai had come to Absalom, Absalom spoke to him, saying,“ Ahithophel has spoken like this. Shall we do what he says? If not, speak up.”

“ Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers.( For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)

Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend. Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster. A neighbor who is near is better than a distant brother.

With aged men is wisdom, in length of days understanding.“ With God is wisdom and might. He has counsel and understanding.

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel,“ Give your counsel what we shall do.”

Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.
