照着少年人所出的主意对他们说：“我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子鞭责打你们。”

却照着年轻人所出的主意对他们说：“我使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭！我父亲用鞭子惩罚你们，我却要用蝎子！”

卻照著年輕人的主意對他們說：“我父親使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛；我父親用鞭子責打你們，我卻要用蠍子鞭責打你們。”

反而照少年人出的主意對眾民說：『我父親使你們的軛很重，我卻要加重在那上頭呢；我父親用平常鞭子責打你們，我卻要用蠍子鞭呢。』

依少者之謀、告之曰、我父使爾負重軛、我必益之、我父責爾以鞭、我則責爾以蠍、

循少者之謀、謂民曰、我父使爾負軛、我必使爾負尤重之軛、我父以鞭責爾、我必以蠍責爾、

he followed the advice of the young men and said,“ My father made your yoke heavy; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.”

Instead, he followed the advice of the young men. He said,“ My father put a heavy load on your shoulders. But I’ll make it even heavier. My father beat you with whips. But I’ll beat you with bigger whips.”

King Rehoboam spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying,“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.”

and followed the counsel of his younger advisers. He told the people,“ My father laid heavy burdens on you, but I’m going to make them even heavier! My father beat you with whips, but I will beat you with scorpions!”

and spoke to them according to the young men’s advice, saying,“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I, with barbed whips.”

He spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying,“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.”

and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying,“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!”

and spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

and spoke to them according to the young men’s advice, saying,“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I, with barbed whips.”

And answered them after the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I[ will chastise you] with scorpions.

and followed the advice of the younger ones. He said,“ My father imposed heavy demands on you; I will make them even heavier. My father punished you with ordinary whips; I will punish you with whips that really sting your flesh.”

and spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying,“ My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”

事情的終局強如它的起頭；存心忍耐的，勝過居心驕傲的。

那人是智慧是愚昧，誰能知道呢？他竟要掌管我在日光之下用智慧勞碌所得的。這也是虛空。

義人的思念是公平；惡人的計謀是詭詐。

你們心裏若懷着惡毒的嫉妒和自私，就不可自誇，不可說謊話抵擋真理。這樣的智慧不是從上頭下來的，而是屬地上的，屬情慾的，屬鬼魔的。在何處有嫉妒、自私，在何處就有動亂和各樣的壞事。惟獨從上頭來的智慧，先是清潔，後是和平、溫良、柔順，滿有憐憫和美善的果子，沒有偏私，沒有虛偽。正義的果實是為促進和平的人用和平栽種出來的。你們中間的衝突是哪裏來的？爭執是哪裏來的？不是從你們肢體中交戰着的私慾來的嗎？你們貪戀，得不着就殺人；你們嫉妒，不能得手就起爭執和衝突；你們得不着，是因為你們不求。

他行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，像亞哈家一樣；因他父親死後，他們給他主謀，使他敗壞。他也聽從他們的計謀，與以色列王亞哈的兒子約蘭同往基列的拉末去，與亞蘭王哈薛交戰。亞蘭人打傷了約蘭，

邦國啊，你的君王若年少，你的羣臣早晨宴樂，你就有禍了！

國中的總長、欽差、總督、謀士和省長彼此商議，求王下旨，立一條禁令，三十天之內，不拘何人，若在王以外，或向神明或向人求甚麼，就必扔在獅子坑中。

紛爭掀起，如同缺口的水；因此，爭端尚未爆發就當制止。

那些與他一同長大的年輕人對他說：「這些百姓對王說：『你父親使我們負重軛，求你給我們減輕一些。』王要對他們如此說：『我的小指頭比我父親的腰還粗呢！我父親使你們負重軛，現在我必使你們負更重的軛！我父親用鞭子懲罰你們，我卻要用蠍子！』」
