He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (niv)

Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.When the hay is removed and new growth appears and the grass from the hills is gathered in,the lambs will provide you with clothing, and the goats with the price of a field.You will have plenty of goats’ milk to feed your family and to nourish your female servants. (niv)
