What shepherd cares for a flock of sheep and isn’t allowed to drink some of the milk?Am I expressing merely a human opinion, or does the law say the same thing?For the law of Moses says,“ You must not muzzle an ox to keep it from eating as it treads out the grain.” Was God thinking only about oxen when he said this?Wasn’t he actually speaking to us? Yes, it was written for us, so that the one who plows and the one who threshes the grain might both expect a share of the harvest.

In the same way, the Lord ordered that those who preach the Good News should be supported by those who benefit from it.

Don’t move around from home to home. Stay in one place, eating and drinking what they provide. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve their pay.

Don’t carry a traveler’s bag with a change of clothes and sandals or even a walking stick. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve to be fed.

“ Never take advantage of poor and destitute laborers, whether they are fellow Israelites or foreigners living in your towns.You must pay them their wages each day before sunset because they are poor and are counting on it. If you don’t, they might cry out to the Lord against you, and it would be counted against you as sin.

“ Do not defraud or rob your neighbor.“ Do not make your hired workers wait until the next day to receive their pay.

Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him.

As the Scriptures tell us,“ Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”

What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would make the Gentiles right in his sight because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said,“ All nations will be blessed through you.”

For the Scriptures tell us,“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”

For the Scriptures say that God told Pharaoh,“ I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth.”
