So I want the men in every place to pray. I want them to lift up holy hands. I don’t want them to be angry when they pray. I don’t want them to argue.

我愿男人无忿怒，无争论，举起圣洁的手，随处祷告；

我希望男人举起圣洁的手随处祷告，不发怒，不争论。

因此，我願意男人沒有忿怒，沒有爭論，舉起聖潔的手隨處禱告。

所以我願男人在各地方禱告，無忿怒無爭論地舉起虔聖的手來祈禱。

所以，我希望在各個地方的男人都舉起聖潔的手禱告，不動怒、不爭論；

故我欲人無怒無爭、舉維聖之手隨在祈禱、

我欲人拱手敬虔、毋怒毋疑、隨在祈禱、

我欲人無怒無爭、隨在舉聖潔之手而祈禱、

吾望信眾隨處祈禱；祈禱時、應舉聖潔之手、更須平心靜氣。

Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.

I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;

In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

Lift up your hands in the temple and praise the Lord.

I will praise you as long as I live. I will call on your name when I lift up my hands in prayer.

Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners. Make your hearts pure, you who can’t make up your minds.

You might spread out your hands toward me when you pray. But I do not look at you. You might even offer many prayers. But I am not listening to them. Your hands are covered with the blood of the people you have murdered.

So let us come near to God with a sincere heart. Let us come near boldly because of our faith. Our hearts have been sprinkled. Our minds have been cleansed from a sense of guilt. Our bodies have been washed with pure water.

So here is the advice I give to younger widows. Get married. Have children. Take care of your own homes. Don’t give the enemy the chance to tell lies about you.

“‘ “You continue to steal and commit murder. You commit adultery. You tell lies in court. You burn incense to Baal. You worship other gods you didn’t know before.Then you come and stand in front of me. You keep coming to this house where I have put my Name. You say,‘ We are safe.’ You think you are safe when you do so many things I hate.

Jesus said,“ Woman, believe me. A time is coming when you will not worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

When it was time to leave, we continued on our way. All the believers, including their whole families, went with us out of the city. There on the beach we got down on our knees to pray.

You can trust this saying. These things are important. Treat them that way. Then those who trust in God will be careful to commit themselves to doing good. These things are excellent. They are for the good of everyone.

Cornelius and all his family were faithful and worshiped God. He gave freely to people who were in need. He prayed to God regularly.

Jesus said,“ Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing.” The soldiers divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Cornelius was afraid. He stared at the angel.“ What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered,“ Your prayers and gifts to poor people are like an offering to God. So he has remembered you.

Lord, I called out to you. I called out from the bottom of the pit.I prayed,“ Please don’t close your ears to my cry for help.” And you heard my appeal.

I wish all of you were single like me. But you each have your own gift from God. One has this gift, and another has that one.

“ Now plead with God to be gracious to us! But as long as you give offerings like those, how can he accept you?” says the Lord.“ You might as well shut the temple doors! Then you would not light useless fires on my altar. I am not pleased with you,” says the Lord.“ I will not accept any of the offerings you bring.My name will be great among the nations. They will worship me from where the sun rises in the east to where it sets in the west. In every place, incense and pure offerings will be brought to me. That’s because my name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord.

Share your food with hungry people. Provide homeless people with a place to stay. Give naked people clothes to wear. Provide for the needs of your own family.Then the light of my blessing will shine on you like the rising sun. I will heal you quickly. I will march out ahead of you. And my glory will follow behind you and guard you. That’s because I always do what is right.You will call out to me for help. And I will answer you. You will cry out. And I will say,‘ Here I am.’“ Get rid of the chains you use to hold others down. Stop pointing your finger at others as if they had done something wrong. Stop saying harmful things about them.Work hard to feed hungry people. Satisfy the needs of those who are crushed. Then my blessing will light up your darkness. And the night of your suffering will become as bright as the noonday sun.I will always guide you. I will satisfy your needs in a land baked by the sun. I will make you stronger. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water. You will be like a spring whose water never runs dry.

Then he fell on his knees. He cried out,“ Lord! Don’t hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he died.

But here is what I tell you. Love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you.

But here is what I tell you. Do not be angry with a brother or sister. Anyone who is angry with them will be judged. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister,‘ Raca,’ must stand trial in court. And anyone who says,‘ You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire in hell.“ Suppose you are offering your gift at the altar. And you remember that your brother or sister has something against you.Leave your gift in front of the altar. First go and make peace with them. Then come back and offer your gift.

Husbands, consider the needs of your wives. They are weaker than you. So treat them with respect. Honor them as those who will share with you the gracious gift of life. Then nothing will stand in the way of your prayers.

But when you ask, you must believe. You must not doubt. That’s because a person who doubts is like a wave of the sea. The wind blows and tosses them around.They shouldn’t expect to receive anything from the Lord.This kind of person can’t make up their mind. They can never decide what to do.

But a new time is coming. In fact, it is already here. True worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth. They are the kind of worshipers the Father is looking for.God is spirit. His worshipers must worship him in the Spirit and in truth.”

From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God.He said,“ When I was in trouble, I called out to the Lord. And he answered me. When I was deep in the place of the dead, I called out for help. And you listened to my cry.

Jesus replied,“ What I’m about to tell you is true. You must have faith and not doubt. Then you can do what was done to the fig tree. And you can say to this mountain,‘ Go and throw yourself into the sea.’ It will be done.

And forgive us our sins, just as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.

“ What I’m about to tell you is true. Suppose someone says to this mountain,‘ Go and throw yourself into the sea.’ They must not doubt in their heart. They must believe that what they say will happen. Then it will be done for them.So I tell you, when you pray for something, believe that you have already received it. Then it will be yours.And when you stand praying, forgive anyone you have anything against. Then your Father in heaven will forgive your sins.”

Jesus led his disciples out to the area near Bethany. Then he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

He said,‘ Cornelius, God has heard your prayer. He has remembered your gifts to poor people.

Forgive other people when they sin against you. If you do, your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive the sins of other people, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Then he said,“ Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”Jesus answered him,“ What I’m about to tell you is true. Today you will be with me in paradise.”

I wash my hands to show that I’m not guilty. Lord, I come near your altar.

If I had enjoyed having sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

But I haven’t harmed anyone. My prayers to God are pure.

Lord, I cry out to you because I’m suffering so deeply.Lord, listen to me. Pay attention to my cry for your mercy.

God hates sacrifices that are brought by evil people. He hates it even more when they bring them for the wrong reason.

So the Lord brought the army commanders of the king of Assyria against them. They took Manasseh as a prisoner. They put a hook in his nose. They put him in bronze chains. And they took him to Babylon.When Manasseh was in trouble, he asked the Lord his God to help him. He made himself very humble in the sight of the God of his people.

So God said to him,“ You have not asked to live for a long time. You have not asked to be wealthy. You have not even asked to have your enemies killed. Instead, you have asked for wisdom. You want to do what is right and fair when you judge people. Because that is what you have asked for,

Anyone who has clean hands and a pure heart. Anyone who does not trust in the statue of a god. Anyone who doesn’t use the name of that god when he makes a promise.

But when they were sick, I put on the clothing of sadness. I made myself humble by going without food. My prayers for them weren’t always answered.

The Lord hates the sacrifice of sinful people. But the prayers of honest people please him.
