For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity— the man Christ Jesus.

蓋天主惟一、在天主世人之間、中保亦惟一、即降世為人之基督耶穌、

夫天主一而已矣、而介居天主與人之間者、亦一而已矣、則基督耶穌其人也。

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

There is only one God. And there is only one go- between for God and human beings. He is the man Christ Jesus.

Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham.

But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.

“ Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.

That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies:“ I am the First and the Last; there is no other God.

Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

After all, is God the God of the Jews only? Isn’t he also the God of the Gentiles? Of course he is.There is only one God, and he makes people right with himself only by faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

but the angel reassured them.“ Don’t be afraid!” he said.“ I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.The Savior— yes, the Messiah, the Lord— has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!

Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.

And this is the way to have eternal life— to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.

For in one place the Scriptures say,“ What are mere mortals that you should think about them, or a son of man that you should care for him?Yet for a little while you made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.You gave them authority over all things.” Now when it says“ all things,” it means nothing is left out. But we have not yet seen all things put under their authority.What we do see is Jesus, who for a little while was given a position“ a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now“ crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.For he said to God,“ I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.”He also said,“ I will put my trust in him,” that is,“ I and the children God has given me.”

And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest.

“ Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means‘ God is with us.’”

If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together.

Jesus replied,“ The most important commandment is this:‘ Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’The second is equally important:‘ Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”The teacher of religious law replied,“ Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth by saying that there is only one God and no other.And I know it is important to love him with all my heart and all my understanding and all my strength, and to love my neighbor as myself. This is more important than to offer all of the burnt offerings and sacrifices required in the law.”

So, what about eating meat that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God.

But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.

one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.

The Scriptures tell us,“ The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam— that is, Christ— is a life giving Spirit.What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later.Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven.
