有人偏离这些，反去讲虚浮的话，

有人偏离了这些而转向空谈，

可惜有些人却偏离这些，转向空洞的谈论。

有些人偏离了这些，就转向无意义的辩论，

有些人偏离了这些，转向了虚妄的话，

有人偏離這些，反去講虛浮的話，

有人偏離了這些而轉向空談，

有人偏離了這些而轉向空談，

可惜有些人卻偏離這些，轉向空洞的談論。

有些人偏離了這些，就轉向無意義的辯論，

有些人不以這幾樣為正鵠，就偏向虛妄的談論，

有些人偏離了這些，轉向了虛妄的話，

乃有失此而向虛誕、

有人棄此、轉求虛誕、

有人棄此、轉求虛誕、

今同人中頗有不此之務、而歧入蹈虛鑿空之迷途者；

Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk.

Some have turned from these teachings. They would rather talk about things that have no meaning.

Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion,

But some people have missed this whole point. They have turned away from these things and spend their time in meaningless discussions.

Some have departed from these and turned aside to fruitless discussion.

Some people have strayed from these things and have turned aside to fruitless discussion,

from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk,

from which things some having swerved have turned aside unto vain talking;

Some have deviated from these and turned aside to fruitless discussion.

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

Some have strayed from these and turned away to empty discussion.

from which things some, having missed the mark, have turned away to vain talking,

For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. (niv)

But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. (niv)

Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. (niv)

they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicionsand constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. (niv)

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith. Grace be with you all. (niv)

Some have in fact already turned away to follow Satan. (niv)
