You know very well how the day of the Lord will come. It will come like a thief in the night.

爾固明知主日之臨、突如其來。有如不速之客之夜襲也。

So remember what you have been taught and have heard. Hold firmly to it. Turn away from your sins. If you don’t wake up, I will come like a thief. You won’t know when I will come to you.

But here is what you must understand. Suppose the owner of the house knew at what hour the robber was coming. He would not have let his house be broken into.You also must be ready. The Son of Man will come at an hour when you don’t expect him.”

It’s like a man going away. He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge. Each one is given a task to do. He tells the one at the door to keep watch.“ So keep watch! You do not know when the owner of the house will come back. It may be in the evening or at midnight. It may be when the rooster crows or at dawn.

My anger will not turn back. I will accomplish everything I plan to do. In days to come you will understand it clearly.

God will also keep you strong in faith to the very end. Then you will be without blame on the day our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
