行所當行、以待會外之人、而己無匱乏、

如是、爾向外人行事合宜、而己亦無所乏也、○

務使外界睹爾品格高尚、行為端正、而無求於人也。

so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Then unbelievers will have respect for your everyday life. And you won’t have to depend on anyone.

so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.

Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.

so that you may behave properly in the presence of outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.

so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.

that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.

so that you may walk properly in the presence of outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.

That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and[ that] ye may have lack of nothing.

In this way you will live a decent life before outsiders and not be in need.

Was it a sin for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by preaching the gospel of God to you free of charge?I robbed other churches by receiving support from them so as to serve you.And when I was with you and needed something, I was not a burden to anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied what I needed.
