外間頗有人嘖嘖稱道吾儕如何獲爾之心、爾等如何拋棄偶像、歸依聖教、兢兢業業、奉事永生真實之天主、

In fact, we labor and strive for this, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of everyone, especially of those who believe.

You know that when you were pagans, you used to be led off to the idols that could not speak.

But in the past, when you didn’t know God, you were enslaved to things that by nature are not gods.But now, since you know God, or rather have become known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and bankrupt elemental forces? Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?

This is why we constantly thank God, because when you received the message about God that you heard from us, you welcomed it not as a human message, but as it truly is, the message of God, which also works effectively in you believers.

For you yourselves know, brothers, that our visit with you was not without result.

“ Men! Why are you doing these things? We are men also, with the same nature as you, and we are proclaiming good news to you, that you should turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and everything in them.
