說：「你年紀大了，你的兒子不效法你。現在求你為我們立一個王治理我們，像其他國家一樣。」

对他说：“你年纪老迈了，你儿子不行你的道。现在求你为我们立一个王治理我们，像列国一样。”

对他说：“看哪，你年纪老了，你的儿子又不行你的道。现在请你为我们立一个王治理我们，像列国一样。”

对他说：“看哪，你年纪老了，你的儿子又不行你的道。现在请你为我们立一个王治理我们，像列国一样。”

对他说：“看哪，你老了，你的儿子们又不行你的道，所以请你为我们立一个王来治理我们，像其他国家那样。”

對他說：「你年紀老邁了，你兒子不行你的道。現在求你為我們立一個王治理我們，像列國一樣。」

對他說：『看哪，你年紀老了，你的兒子不行你的道路；現在你要為我們立個王來為我們審案，像列國一樣。』

對他說：「看哪，你老了，你的兒子們又不行你的道，所以請你為我們立一個王來治理我們，像其他國家那樣。」

They said to him,“ You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.”

They said to him,“ You are old. Your sons don’t live as you do. So appoint a king to lead us. We want a king just like the kings all the other nations have.”

and said to him,“ Behold, you are old and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

“ Look,” they told him,“ you are now old, and your sons are not like you. Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations have.”

They said to him,“ Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Therefore, appoint a king to judge us the same as all the other nations have.”

and they said to him,“ Behold, you have grown old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

and said to him,“ Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

and they said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

They said to him,“ Look, you are old, and your sons do not follow your example. Therefore, appoint a king to judge us the same as all the other nations have.”

And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

They said to him,“ Look, you are old, and your sons don’t follow your ways. So now appoint over us a king to lead us, just like all the other nations have.”

「後來，他們求上帝為他們立一位王，上帝就選立便雅憫支派中基士的兒子掃羅為王，執政四十年。

「你們進入並佔領你們的上帝耶和華將要賜給你們的土地，安頓下來後，就會想立自己的王，像周圍的國家一樣。那麼，你們一定要立你們的上帝耶和華揀選的人；必須立你們的以色列同胞為王，不可立外族人。

我從峰頂觀看他們，從高崗眺望他們，這獨居一方之民，不與萬國同列。

民眾卻不肯聽從撒母耳的話。他們說：「不，我們想要一個王治理我們，這樣我們就會像其他國家一樣，有王來統治我們，率領我們，為我們作戰。」

你們都知道收割麥子的時候不會下雨。現在，我要向耶和華禱告，求祂打雷降雨，好讓你們知道，你們要求立王在耶和華眼中是多麼大的罪。」

撒母耳聽到他們要求立一個王治理他們，心中不悅，就向耶和華禱告。耶和華對撒母耳說：「你照他們所說的去做吧，因為他們不是拒絕你，而是拒絕我做他們的王。自從我把他們從埃及領出來以後，他們就常常背棄我，去供奉其他神明。現在，他們也這樣對待你。

你曾求我為你設立君王和首領，現在拯救你的君王在哪裡呢？在各城管理你的首領在哪裡呢？我在憤怒中賜給你君王，也在憤怒中廢黜他們。
