When David reached Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends, saying,“ Here is a gift for you from the plunder of the Lord’s enemies.”

David reached Ziklag. He sent some of the goods to the elders of Judah. They were his friends. He said,“ Here’s a gift for you. It’s part of the things we took from the Lord’ s enemies.”

When David came to Ziklag, he sent part of the spoil to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying,“ Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the Lord.”

When he arrived at Ziklag, David sent part of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends.“ Here is a present for you, taken from the Lord’s enemies,” he said.

因此，我認為必須勸那幾位弟兄先到你們那裡去，使你們事先籌足從前所答應的捐款。那麼，你們這樣的準備，就是出於樂意的，不是勉強的。

人的禮物能為他開路，引他到大人物面前。首先陳述情由的，似乎有理，等他的鄰舍來到，才可以查明實情。抽籤能止息紛爭，排解二強之間的糾紛。觸怒兄弟，要勸他和解，比取堅城還難；這樣的紛爭，如同堡壘的門閂。人口中所結的果子，必使自己的肚腹飽足；他嘴裡所出的，必使他飽足。生與死都在舌頭的權下；愛把弄這權柄的，必自食其果。覓得賢妻的，就是覓得幸福，也是蒙了耶和華的恩寵。窮人乞恩哀求，財主卻聲色俱厲地回答。朋友眾多的人，終必彼此破裂，但有一位朋友，比兄弟更親密。

你升到高天的時候，擄了許多俘虜；你在人間，就是在悖逆的人當中，接受了禮物，使耶和華神可以與他們同住。

乃縵和他的隨員又回到神人那裡，他進去，站在他面前，說：“看哪！現在我知道除了在以色列以外，全地都沒有神。現在，請你收下你僕人一點禮物吧。”

高尚的人卻籌謀高尚的事，他也必堅持這些高尚的事。

大衛因為基士的兒子掃羅的緣故，躲在洗革拉的時候，以下這些人就來到大衛那裡；他們都是勇士，在戰爭中幫助他。他們配備弓箭，能用左右兩手開弓甩石射箭；他們都屬便雅憫支派，是掃羅的親族。他們的首領是亞希以謝，其次是約阿施，都是基比亞人示瑪的兒子；還有亞斯瑪威的兒子耶薛和毘力；又有比拉迦和亞拿突人耶戶，以及基遍人以實買雅，他在三十人中是個勇士，並且統領那三十人，又有耶利米、雅哈悉、約哈難和基得拉人約撒拔（“又有耶利米⋯⋯約撒拔”在《馬索拉文本》為12:5）、伊利烏賽、耶利摩、比亞利雅、示瑪利雅、哈律弗人示法提雅；（本節在《馬索拉文本》為12:6）可拉人有以利加拿、耶西亞、亞薩列、約以謝和雅朔班、基多人耶羅罕的兒子猶拉和西巴第雅。迦得支派中，有些人走到曠野的山寨去投奔大衛，他們都是英勇的戰士，善於作戰，能使用盾牌和長槍；他們的面貌好像獅子，他們敏捷得好像山上的羚羊。第一個是以薛，第二是俄巴底雅，第三是以利押，第四是彌施瑪拿，第五是耶利米，第六是亞太，第七是以利業，第八是約哈難，第九是以利薩巴，第十是耶利米，第十一是末巴奈。這些都是迦得支派中的軍長，最小的一個能抵擋一百人，最大的一個能抵擋一千人。在正月，約旦河水漲過兩岸的時候，這些人過了河，使全平原的人都東奔西逃。
