He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling because of the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah.

He led David down to where the men were. They were scattered all over the countryside. They were eating and drinking and dancing wildly. That’s because they had taken a large amount of goods from those they had attacked. They had taken it from the land of the Philistines and from the people of Judah.

And when he had taken him down, behold, they were spread abroad over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.

So he led David to them, and they found the Amalekites spread out across the fields, eating and drinking and dancing with joy because of the vast amount of plunder they had taken from the Philistines and the land of Judah.

So he led him, and there were the Amalekites, spread out over the entire area, eating, drinking, and celebrating because of the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and the land of Judah.

押沙龍擺設了筵席、如同王的筵席；他吩咐僮僕說：『你們看暗嫩喝酒心裏高興的時候，我對你們說：「擊殺暗嫩」，你們便殺死他，不要懼怕；這不是我吩咐你們的麼？你們只管壯膽奮勇。』

人正說平安穩妥的時候，就在那時、突來的死滅就臨到他們了——正如產難臨到懷孕的婦人一樣——他們斷不能逃脫。

為了他們的緣故、住在地上的人就歡喜快樂，彼此送禮，因為這兩位神言人實在叫住在地上的人受了苦痛。三天半以後、有生氣從上帝那裏進入他們裏面，他們就挺起腿來站着，觀看的人大為懼怕。他們聽見有大聲音從天上對他們說：『上這裏來！』他們就駕雲上天，他們的仇敵也看着他們。就在那時就發生了大地震；那城有十分之一倒壞了。在地震中遭難而死的人有七千名；其餘的人都很懼怕，就把榮耀獻與天上的上帝。

人喫喝嫁娶，直到挪亞進樓船那一天，洪水一來，把他們都滅了。又好像在羅得的日子一樣；人喫喝買賣，栽種建造；但羅得從所多瑪出來那一天，上帝從天上下火雨跟硫磺雨，把他們都滅了。

伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣擺設了盛筵，跟這一千人對面喝酒。當伯沙撒喝酒歡暢的時候，他吩咐人將他父親尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷裏面殿堂中所掠取的金銀器皿拿來，王和大臣王后妃嬪好用這些器皿來喝酒。於是人就把從耶路撒冷裏面上帝殿中、就是殿堂中、所掠取的金銀器皿拿了來；王和大臣王后妃嬪就用這些器皿來喝酒。他們喝酒，稱頌了金銀銅鐵木頭石頭的神。

偵探看見一個人從城裏出來，就對他說：『請把進城的路指示我們，我們就恩待你。』那人把進城的路指示他們，他們就用刀擊殺了城裏的人，但將那人和他全家放走。

他對他們說：『永恆主以色列的上帝這麼說：「你們各人要把自己的刀佩在大腿邊，在營中來回地走，從這大門到那大門；各人要殺他的弟兄、他的同伴、和鄰近的人。」』利未人的子孫照摩西的話去行；那一天之內人民中倒斃的、約有三千人。

我們侵犯了基利提的南方和屬猶大的地、以及迦勒的南方；又放火燒了洗革拉。』

亞比該到了拿八那裏，見他在家裏擺設筵席、如同王的筵席；拿八心裏自感高興，大醉極了；小事大事亞比該全都沒有告訴他、直等到次日早晨天亮的時候。到了早晨，拿八酒醉退了，他妻子才將這些事告訴他，他的心在五內就如死去，他就像石頭一般。過了十天、永恆主擊打了拿八，拿八就死了。

但是你看，人倒歡躍喜樂，宰牛殺羊，喫肉喝酒，說：『只管喫喝吧！因為明天我們就死了！』

第二天、他們清早起來，就獻上燔祭，帶平安祭上前去；人民又坐下去喫喝，起來嬉戲作樂。

惡人的歡躍就是短暫，不拜上帝之人的喜樂只是眨眼間麼？

然後對自己說，人哪，你有許多財物存放着、做許多年的用處；你安逸度日，喫喝快樂吧！」但上帝卻對他說：「糊塗人哪，就在今天夜裏，你的財物就要要你的命了！你所豫備的、要歸誰呢？」

非利士人的霸主們聚集了來，要給他們的神大袞獻大祭，並且歡樂慶祝；他們說：『我們的神將我們的仇敵參孫交在我們手中了。』眾民看見參孫，就吶喊頌讚他們的神，說：『我們的神將我們的仇敵、那使我們的地荒廢、又刺死我們許多人的、交在我們手中了。』他們心裏正高興的時候，就說：『叫參孫來，在我們面前耍耍把戲。』於是把參孫從監獄裏提出來；參孫就在眾人面前耍把戲。他們又叫他站在兩根柱子中間。參孫向拉他手的僮僕說：『請讓我摸摸那托住這廟宇的柱子，我要靠一靠。』那時屋子裏充滿了看參孫耍把戲的男男女女；非利士人的霸主們也都在那裏；在房頂上、男男女女約有三千。參孫呼求永恆主說：『主永恆主啊，眷念着我；上帝啊，加強我這一次的力量，就只這一次，使我從非利士人身上儘一次報他那剜我雙眼的仇。』參孫就抱住了那托住這廟宇的兩根中柱子，摟向身來；左手摟着一根，右手摟着一根，說：『讓我和非利士人同死吧』；就盡力屈身，以致那房子倒塌下來，壓住了霸主們和屋子裏所有的人。這樣，參孫死的時候所殺死的人比他活着時所殺死的還多。

『你們要自己注意，恐怕你們的心受重壓在過度飲食醉酒和日常生活之掛慮中，那日子就如同網羅突然臨到你們了；因為那日子總必臨到住全地上一切的人。

約書亞一聽見人民呼喊時候的聲音，就對摩西說：『營裏有爭戰的聲音哪！』摩西說：『這不是打勝仗呼應的聲音，也不是打敗仗呼應的聲音；我所聽見的乃是唱和的聲音。』摩西走近營前，一看見牛犢，以及人在舞蹈着，他的怒氣便發作，就把兩塊版從手中扔去，給摔碎在山下了。
