大衛和跟隨的人上去侵犯基述人、基色人、和亞瑪力人；這幾族人居住的地是從提拉因往書珥、直到埃及地那方向的。大衛擊殺了那地的人，無論男女、全都不讓活着；又拿了羊、牛、驢、駱駝、和衣服，然後回來、到亞吉那裏。亞吉說：『你們今天侵犯了甚麼地方呢？』大衛說：『我們侵犯了猶大的南方、耶拉篾的南方、基尼的南方。』

那時以撒住在南地，剛從庇耳拉海萊來到。

永恆主對約書亞說：『你不要因他們而懼怕；因為明天大約這時候、我必使他們全部刺死、都交付在以色列人面前；他們的馬你要砍斷蹄筋，他們的車輛你要放火去燒。』

第三天，忽見一人從營裏掃羅那裏出來，衣服撕裂，頭上放土；一到大衛面前，就伏地叩拜。
