Now David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites, the Girzites and the Amalekites.( From ancient times these peoples had lived in the land extending to Shur and Egypt.)

Sometimes David and his men would go up and attack the Geshurites. At other times they would attack the Girzites or the Amalekites. All those people had lived in the land that reached all the way to Shur and Egypt. They had been there for a long time.

Now David and his men went up and made raids against the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites, for these were the inhabitants of the land from of old, as far as Shur, to the land of Egypt.

David and his men spent their time raiding the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites— people who had lived near Shur, toward the land of Egypt, since ancient times.

於是約押起身往基述去，把押沙龍帶回耶路撒冷。

後來基述和亞蘭奪了哈倭特‧睚珥，以及基納和所屬的鄉鎮，共六十個。這些城鎮的人全都是基列的父親瑪吉的子孫。

那時，亞瑪力來到利非訂，和以色列爭戰。

押沙龍對約押說：「看哪，我派人去請你來，好託你到王那裏去，說：『我為何從基述回來呢？我仍在那裏比較好。』現在讓我去見王的面；我若有罪孽，就任憑王殺了我吧。」

因為僕人住在亞蘭的基述時，曾許願說：『耶和華若使我再回耶路撒冷，我必事奉他。』」

所羅門王挑取服勞役的工人，為要建造耶和華的殿、自己的宮、米羅、耶路撒冷的城牆、夏瑣、米吉多和基色。先前埃及王法老上來攻取基色，用火焚燒，殺了城內居住的迦南人，把城賜給他的女兒，就是所羅門的妻子，作為嫁妝。所羅門建造基色、下伯‧和崙、

摩西領以色列人從紅海起程，到了書珥的曠野，在曠野走了三天，找不到水。

押沙龍逃到亞米忽的兒子基述王達買那裏去了。大衛天天為他兒子悲哀。押沙龍逃到基述去了，在那裏住了三年。

第三日，大衛和他的人到了洗革拉。亞瑪力人已經侵奪尼革夫和洗革拉。他們攻破洗革拉，用火焚燒。

耶和華對摩西說：「你要把這事記錄在書上作紀念，又念給約書亞聽：我要把亞瑪力的名字從天下全然塗去。」摩西築了一座壇，起名叫「耶和華尼西」。他說：「我指着耶和華的寶座發誓，耶和華必世世代代和亞瑪力爭戰。」
