David said to his men,“ Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

David said to his men,“ Each of you put on your swords!” So they did. David put his sword on too. About 400 men went up with David. Two hundred men stayed behind with the supplies.

And David said to his men,“ Every man strap on his sword!” And every man of them strapped on his sword. David also strapped on his sword. And about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred remained with the baggage.

“ Get your swords!” was David’s reply as he strapped on his own. Then 400 men started off with David, and 200 remained behind to guard their equipment.

He said to his men,“ All of you, put on your swords!” So each man put on his sword, and David also put on his sword. About four hundred men followed David while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

大衛和跟從他的人、約六百名、就起身出了基伊拉，去了他們所能去的地方隨處往來。有人告訴掃羅說大衛從基伊拉逃跑了；掃羅便不出來了。

心無知識很不好；腳步急迫的、達不到目的。

人的明智能使他不輕易發怒；不追究人的過失、乃自己的光榮。

以色列人取了他們一些乾糧，並沒有求問永恆主怎樣吩咐。

隨後大衛心中自己責備自己割下掃羅的衣邊；就對跟隨的人說：『他既是永恆主所膏立的，我絕對不對我主上、不對永恆主所膏立的行這事，來伸手攻擊他。』

不輕易發怒的勝於勇士；轄制己心的、強過將城攻取的人。

親愛的，不要自己伸冤，寧可給上帝的義怒留地步；因為經上記着說：『主說，伸冤在我，我必報應。』不，『你的仇敵若餓了，你要分給他喫；若渴了，你要給他喝；因為你這樣行、就是把燒𤏲的炭堆在他頭上。』別為惡所勝了，總要以善勝惡。

不輕易發怒的、大有明哲；心裏着急的、高抬愚妄。

你不可冒然出去爭論；因為你鄰舍若羞辱你，你到底要怎麼辦呢？

我親愛的弟兄們，你們要明白。各人要敏於聽，不要急於說，不要急於發怒。因為人的忿怒並不能生出上帝所要求的正義來。

大衛到了那些精疲力竭、不能跟着大衛走、而留在比梭谿谷的那二百人那裏；他們出來迎接大衛、並迎接跟隨大衛的人；大衛也湊上前去、向他們問安。跟大衛同行的人中間所有的壞人和無賴應時地說：『這些人既然沒有跟我們同行，我們所奪回的掠物就不分給他們；只將他們各人的妻子兒女給他們，讓他們帶走就是了。』大衛說：『弟兄們，永恆主所賜給我們的、你們不可這樣處理；他怎樣保守我們，將那來攻擊我們的匪幫交在我們手裏。這事誰肯依從你們呢？下戰場的分多少，留守物件的也分多少：大家要一樣分。』

於是大衛和跟隨他的六百人就走，來到比梭谿谷；有餘留的便停在那裏。大衛和四百人往前追趕；有二百人因為精疲力竭、不能過比梭谿谷，便停住了。
