拿八卻回答大衛的僕人說：『大衛是誰？耶西的兒子是誰？今日突破約束的僕人太多了；各從主人面前逃出來。

拿八曰、大衛為誰、耶西之子為誰、邇時僕逃其主者甚眾、

拿八曰、耶西之子大闢為誰、邇時僕逋逃其主者甚眾。

拿八謂大衛僕曰、大衛為誰、耶西之子為誰、邇時僕違主而逃者甚眾、

Nabal answered David’s servants,“ Who is this David? Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants are breaking away from their masters these days.

Nabal answered David’s servants,“ Who is this David? Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants are running away from their masters these days.

And Nabal answered David’s servants,“ Who is David? Who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants these days who are breaking away from their masters.

“ Who is this fellow David?” Nabal sneered to the young men.“ Who does this son of Jesse think he is? There are lots of servants these days who run away from their masters.

Nabal asked them,“ Who is David? Who is Jesse’s son? Many slaves these days are running away from their masters.

But Nabal answered David’s servants and said,“ Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants today who are each breaking away from his master.

Then Nabal answered David’s servants, and said,“ Who is David, and who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants nowadays who break away each one from his master.

And Nabal answered David’s servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there are many servants now- a- days that break away every man from his master.

Nabal asked them,“ Who is David? Who is Jesse’s son? Many slaves these days are running away from their masters.

And Nabal answered David’s servants, and said, Who[ is] David? and who[ is] the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.

But Nabal responded to David’s servants,“ Who is David, and who is this son of Jesse? This is a time when many servants are breaking away from their masters!

Nabal answered David’s servants, and said,“ Who is David? Who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants who break away from their masters these days.

耶和華啊，求你恩待我們，求你恩待我們！因為我們實在受盡了藐視——安逸人的嘲笑和高慢人的藐視，我們實在受盡了。

掃羅對身旁侍立的臣僕說：「便雅憫子孫哪，你們聽著：耶西的兒子也能把田地和葡萄園賜給你們各人嗎？他能設立你們各人作千夫長、百夫長嗎？你們所有人竟然同謀對付我！當我的兒子與耶西的兒子結盟的時候，沒有人告訴我；當我的兒子煽動我的臣僕伺機反對我時，就像今天這樣，你們中間也沒有人關心我、告訴我。」

凡受壓迫的人、負債的人、心裡愁苦的人，都聚集到他那裡，他就作了他們的首領，跟隨他的約有四百人。

掃羅就向約拿單發怒，對他說：「你這忤逆的娼婦之子！難道我不知道嗎？你在袒護耶西的兒子，以致自己蒙羞，也使你母親露體蒙羞！

至於卑劣人，他的手段邪惡，他圖謀惡計，即使貧窮人講求公正，他還是用謊言毀滅困苦人。

他們的眼睛因體胖而凸出，心裡的妄想四處氾濫。他們譏諷、嘲笑，懷著惡意說欺壓人的話。他們說話出於高傲；

有一個卑劣之徒恰巧在那裡，他名叫示巴，是便雅憫人比基利的兒子。他吹響號角，說：「我們與大衛無份，在耶西的兒子那裡沒有繼業！以色列啊，各人回自己的帳篷吧！」

不要說：「為什麼先前的日子好過現在的日子呢？」因為你這樣問不是出於智慧。

愚頑人不再被稱為高貴，卑劣人也不再被說成君子；
