Until the day he died Samuel did not see Saul again. Samuel did, however, mourn for Saul, but the LORD regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

Until the day Samuel died, he did not go to see Saul again, though Samuel mourned for him. And the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

The LORD said to Samuel,“ How long do you intend to mourn for Saul? I have rejected him as king over Israel. Fill your horn with olive oil and go! I am sending you to Jesse in Bethlehem, for I have selected a king for myself from among his sons.”

“ I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned away from me and has not done what I told him to do.” Samuel became angry and he cried out to the LORD all that night.

He even stripped off his clothes and prophesied before Samuel. He lay there naked all that day and night.( For that reason it is asked,“ Is Saul also among the prophets?”)

The LORD regretted that he had made humankind on the earth, and he was highly offended.

For many live, about whom I have often told you, and now, with tears, I tell you that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.

Tears stream down from my eyes, because people do not keep your law.צ( Tsade)

I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.For I could wish that I myself were accursed– cut off from Christ– for the sake of my people, my fellow countrymen,

I take note of the treacherous and despise them, because they do not keep your instructions.

( 8: 23) I wish that my head were a well full of water and my eyes were a fountain full of tears! If they were, I could cry day and night for those of my dear people who have been killed.( 9: 1) I wish I had a lodging place in the desert where I could spend some time like a weary traveler. Then I would desert my people and walk away from them because they are all unfaithful to God, a congregation of people that has been disloyal to him.
