Some Hebrews even crossed the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. Saul remained at Gilgal, and all the troops with him were quaking with fear.

「以色列子民必跟隨耶和華，祂要像獅子一樣吼叫。祂吼叫的時候，他們要戰戰兢兢地從西方來。他們必戰戰兢兢地來，就像從埃及趕來的鳥兒，像從亞述飛來的鴿子。我要帶他們返回家園。這是耶和華說的。」

你要向他們宣佈，膽小害怕的人可以離開基列山回家。」結果兩萬二千人離去，只剩下一萬人。

以下是摩西按宗族分給迦得支派的土地：雅謝和基列境內所有的城邑；亞捫人的一半領土，直到拉巴附近的亞羅珥；從希實本直到拉抹·米斯巴和比多寧，從瑪哈念到底璧的邊境；還有谷中的伯亞蘭、伯·寧拉、疏割、撒分，就是希實本王西宏國中其餘的土地，以約旦河為界，沿東岸直到加利利海的頂端。以上這些城邑、村莊便是迦得支派按宗族所分到的產業。以下是摩西按宗族分給瑪拿西半個支派的土地：從瑪哈念開始，包括整個巴珊，就是巴珊王噩的國土及其境內雅珥的六十座城邑，還有基列的一半和巴珊王噩的兩座城——亞斯她錄和以得來。瑪拿西的兒子瑪吉的一半子孫按宗族分到這些土地。

「我要使你們當中的那些倖存者在敵國心驚膽戰，過著風聲鶴唳、惶恐不安的生活。即使無人追趕，他們也將倉皇逃命，互相絆倒，如同躲避刀劍一樣。你們必無力抵擋敵人。

呂便和迦得的子孫有許多牲畜，他們見雅謝和基列適於放牧，就來見摩西、以利亞撒祭司和會眾的首領，說：「亞大錄、底本、雅謝、寧拉、希實本、以利亞利、示班、尼波和比穩——這些耶和華為以色列會眾攻取的地方適於放牧，而僕人們有許多牲畜。如果你們恩待我們，請將這些地方賜給我們作產業，別讓我們過約旦河了。」
