Jonathan attacked the Philistine outpost at Geba, and the Philistines heard about it. Then Saul had the trumpet blown throughout the land and said,“ Let the Hebrews hear!”

Some Philistine soldiers were stationed at Geba. Jonathan attacked them. The other Philistines heard about it. Saul announced,“ Let the Hebrew people hear about what has happened!” He had trumpets blown all through the land.

Jonathan defeated the garrison of the Philistines that was at Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying,“ Let the Hebrews hear.”

Soon after this, Jonathan attacked and defeated the garrison of Philistines at Geba. The news spread quickly among the Philistines. So Saul blew the ram’s horn throughout the land, saying,“ Hebrews, hear this! Rise up in revolt!”

全地，从迦巴直到耶路撒冷南方的临门，要变为亚拉巴。耶路撒冷必仍居高位，就是从便雅悯门到第一门之处，又到角门，并从哈楠业楼，直到王的酒榨。

那时大卫在山寨，非利士人的防营在伯利恒。

基法阿摩尼、俄弗尼、迦巴，共十二座城，还有属城的村庄；

又从便雅悯支派的地业中给了他们基遍和属城的郊野，迦巴和属城的郊野，

他们过了隘口，在迦巴住宿。拉玛人战兢；扫罗的基比亚人逃跑。

扫罗和他儿子约拿单，并跟随他们的人，都住在便雅悯的迦巴；但非利士人安营在密抹。

于是约押吹角，众民就站住，不再追赶以色列人，也不再打仗了。

有一日，扫罗的儿子约拿单对拿他兵器的少年人说：“我们不如过到那边，到非利士人的防营那里去。”但他没有告诉父亲。扫罗在基比亚的尽边，坐在米矶仑的石榴树下，跟随他的约有六百人。在那里有亚希突的儿子亚希亚，穿着以弗得。（亚希突是以迦博的哥哥，非尼哈的儿子，以利的孙子。以利从前在示罗作耶和华的祭司。）约拿单去了，百姓却不知道。约拿单要从隘口过到非利士防营那里去。这隘口两边各有一个山峰：一名播薛，一名西尼；一峰向北，与密抹相对，一峰向南，与迦巴相对。约拿单对拿兵器的少年人说：“我们不如过到未受割礼人的防营那里去，或者耶和华为我们施展能力；因为耶和华使人得胜，不在乎人多人少。”
