看哪，現在有這王帶領你們了。至於我，我已經年老髮白；而我的兒子們在這裡與你們在一起。我從年輕時到今天一直帶領你們。

今有王出入於爾前、我已年邁皓首、我子與爾相處、我自幼出入於爾前、至於今日、

我今年邁、首已皓然、我子與爾雜處、所治爾者、惟此人也。我自幼迄今、治理爾曹、

今有此王率爾、率爾原文作行於爾前我今年邁、髮已皓然、我子與爾偕矣、我自幼率爾率爾原文作行於爾前至於今日、

Now you have a king as your leader. As for me, I am old and gray, and my sons are here with you. I have been your leader from my youth until this day.

Now you have a king as your leader. But I’m old. My hair is gray. My sons are here with you. I’ve been your leader from the time I was young until this day.

And now, behold, the king walks before you, and I am old and gray; and behold, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my youth until this day.

Your king is now your leader. I stand here before you— an old, gray haired man— and my sons serve you. I have served as your leader from the time I was a boy to this very day.

Now you can see that the king is leading you. As for me, I’m old and gray, and my sons are here with you. I have led you from my youth until now.

Now, here is the king walking before you, but as for me, I am old and gray, and my sons are here with you. And I have walked before you since my youth to this day.

And now here is the king, walking before you; and I am old and grayheaded, and look, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my childhood to this day.

And now, behold, the king walketh before you; and I am old and grayheaded; and, behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my youth unto this day.

Now you can see that the king is leading you. As for me, I’m old and gray, and my sons are here with you. I have led you from my youth until today.

對他說：「看哪，你老了，你的兒子們又不行你的道，所以請你為我們立一個王來治理我們，像其他國家那樣。」

我們也要像其他國家那樣，有自己的王治理我們，率領我們出征，為我們作戰。」

撒母耳年老的時候，立他的兒子們作以色列的士師。

他的兒子們沒有行他的道，反而貪圖私利，收取賄賂，屈枉公正。

撒母耳漸漸長大，耶和華與他同在，沒有讓他的任何一句話落空。全以色列，從但直到比爾-謝巴，都知道撒母耳被確立為耶和華的先知。

以利呼喚撒母耳，說：「撒母耳，我兒！」他回答：「我在這裡。」

神哪，縱然到我年老髮白的時候，你也不要離棄我，直到我向這世代宣告你的能力，向後世所有的人宣告你的大能！

因為我知道我脫離這帳篷的時候快到了，就像我們的主耶穌基督也曾向我指明的。

這時以利已經很老了，他聽說兒子們對以色列眾人所做的一切，還聽說他們與會幕門口服事的婦女們同睡，

「雅各家啊，以色列家所有的餘剩之民哪，你們這些自出母腹就被我負抱、自出母胎就被我背負的人，要聽我的話！直到你們年老，我還是一樣；直到你們髮白，我仍然扶持你們；我既造了你們，就必背負、扶持、拯救你們。

我曾告訴過他，我必為他知道的罪孽永遠懲罰他的家；這罪就是他的兒子們褻瀆神，而他卻沒有制止他們。

事實上，我已經在被澆奠了；我離開世界的時候已經臨到了。

你們為什麼踐踏我為我的居所指示的祭物和供物呢？你竟尊重你的兒子超過尊重我，又用我子民以色列上好的供物來養肥你們自己。
