But some scoundrels said,“ How can this fellow save us?” They despised him and brought him no gifts. But Saul kept silent.

有人出來、是無賴子、勾引了他們城內的居民說：「我們去事奉別的神吧」；這些神是你們素來所不認識的；

他們各運來了貢物、就是銀器、金器、衣裳、沒藥、香料、馬、騾：年年都有一定的數量。

以利的兩個兒子是無賴子，他們不認識永恆主。

故此永恆主就堅立他手下的國；猶大眾人也給約沙法獻禮物；約沙法遂大有財富和尊榮。

眾民都不作聲，一句話也沒有回答他，因為王是吩咐說：『不要回答他。』

願他施和沿海島嶼的列王都進貢；願示巴和西巴的列王都呈獻貢品。

人民對撒母耳說：『那說「掃羅哪能作王管理我們？」的是誰？將這些人交出來，我們好處死他們。』

有些無賴匪徒聚集跟從他，逞強攻擊所羅門的兒子羅波安；那時羅波安還年青，心裏膽怯，不能抵擋他們。

『這位摩西、族民所棄絕而對他說：「誰設立你做官長和審判員」的，這一位、上帝卻藉那在刺叢中向他顯現的天使的手、差遣了，做執政者做釋放者。

『頸項剛硬、心與耳沒受割禮的人哪，你們永遠抗拒聖靈；你們的祖宗怎樣，你們也怎樣。哪一個神言人、你們的祖宗沒有逼迫過？他們把豫先宣佈那義人之來臨的人殺了。如今你們、你們這些由天使之宣諭領受了律法、而不遵守的人，你們竟成了那義人的出賣者和兇手了！』

所羅門統治諸國、從大河到非利士人之地、直到埃及的邊界；儘所羅門活着的日子、這些國都進貢他、服事他。

進了房子，看見小孩子同他母親馬利亞，便俯伏拜他，揭開了寶盒，將黃金乳香沒藥等禮物獻給他。

在那裏碰巧有一個無賴子、名叫示巴，是便雅憫人比基利的兒子；他吹號角說：『我們在大衛上沒有分兒；我們在耶西的兒子上並沒有業分呀。以色列人哪，各回各家去吧！』

但是我呢、我如同聾子、不能聽，如同啞巴、不能開口。

在被祭司長長老控告的時候，耶穌甚麼都不回答。於是彼拉多對他說：『他們作見證告你這麼多的事，你沒有聽見麼？』耶穌不回答他，連一句話也不說，以致總督極為希奇。

他又擊敗了摩押人，使他們躺在地上，用繩子量量他們：把量二繩長的殺死，讓量一繩長的活着；摩押人就臣服於大衛，帶着禮物而來。
