Year after year this man went up from his town to worship and sacrifice to the Lord Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the Lord.

Year after year Elkanah went up from his town to Shiloh. He went there to worship and sacrifice to the Lord who rules over all. Hophni and Phinehas served as priests of the Lord at Shiloh. They were the two sons of Eli.

Now this man used to go up year by year from his city to worship and to sacrifice to the Lord of hosts at Shiloh, where the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests of the Lord.

Each year Elkanah would travel to Shiloh to worship and sacrifice to the Lord of Heaven’s Armies at the Tabernacle. The priests of the Lord at that time were the two sons of Eli— Hophni and Phinehas.

This man would go up from his town every year to worship and to sacrifice to the LORD of Armies at Shiloh, where Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were the LORD’s priests.

「『你們去我曾選為我名所在之地的示羅，看看我是怎樣因我以色列子民的罪而懲罰那地方的。我對你們的所作所為一再提出警告，你們卻充耳不聞；我呼喚你們，你們卻不回應。這是耶和華說的。因此，我要像對付示羅一樣對付你們所倚靠的這用來敬拜我的殿，對付我賜給你們和你們祖先的土地。

於是，他們派人去示羅把那坐在基路伯天使上的萬軍之耶和華的約櫃抬來。以利的兩個兒子何弗尼和非尼哈也隨上帝的約櫃同來。

祂離棄了設在示羅的聖幕，就是祂在人間的居所。

上帝的約櫃被擄走了，以利的兩個兒子何弗尼和非尼哈被殺身亡。

我對以利說過我要永遠懲罰他家，因為他知道自己的兒子褻瀆我，卻沒有制止他們。

報信的答道：「以色列人被非利士人擊潰，傷亡慘重，你的兩個兒子何弗尼及非尼哈都死了，上帝的約櫃也被擄走了。」以利年老體胖，聽到約櫃被擄去，就從門邊的座位上向後跌倒，頸斷身亡。他做士師審理以色列人的事務共四十年。

你的兩個兒子何弗尼和非尼哈必死在同一天，這就是我言出必行的記號。

你們要把我吩咐你們獻的燔祭、各種牲祭、十一奉獻、舉祭和一切還願祭帶到你們的上帝耶和華選定的敬拜場所。在那裡，你們和兒女、僕婢及同城中沒有分到土地作產業的利未人，要一起在你們的上帝耶和華面前歡喜快樂。你們不可隨處向耶和華獻燔祭。耶和華會在你們的一個支派中選定敬拜的場所，你們只可以在那裡獻燔祭，做我吩咐你們的一切事。

以利的兩個兒子為人邪惡，不敬畏耶和華，對民眾不守自己做祭司的職分。每當民眾來獻祭，還在煮祭肉的時候，他們的僕人便拿著三齒叉來，從罐裡、鼎裡、釜裡或鍋裡插肉，把插上來的祭肉據為己有。他們這樣對待所有到示羅來的以色列人。甚至在焚燒脂肪之前，祭司的僕人就來對獻祭的人說：「把肉給祭司烤吧！他不要煮過的，只要生的。」如果獻祭的人答道：「要先焚燒脂肪，之後你可以隨便拿。」僕人便會說：「不，你現在就給我，不然我就要搶了。」在耶和華的眼中，這兩個青年罪惡深重，因為他們輕視獻給耶和華的祭物。

上帝的會幕設立在示羅期間，米迦的神像一直豎立在但。
