蓋見爾貞潔之行及敬畏也、

蓋其察婦貞靜敬恪、

因見爾之舉動、貞潔敬恪故也、

彼既睹爾之貞靜敬恪、亦必欣然歸道矣。

when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

Let them see how pure you are. Let them see that your lives are full of respect for God.

Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ so that– whether I come and see you or whether I remain absent– I should hear that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, by contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,

and maintain good conduct among the non- Christians, so that though they now malign you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God when he appears.

Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in your speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, and purity.

But set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess.Yet do it with courtesy and respect, keeping a good conscience, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame when they accuse you.
