“ When Your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way You send them, and they pray to the Lord toward the city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name,

『你人民若在你所差遣他們走的路上出戰攻敵，而向你所選擇的這城、和我為你的名所建的這殿對你禱告，

如爾國民、奉爾所遣、無論何適、與敵戰鬥時、向爾所簡之邑、及我所建之殿、為籲爾名之所、祈禱耶和華、

如主之民奉主所遣、無論何往、與敵戰時、向主所選之邑、及我為主名所建之殿、禱告於主、

“ When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to the Lord toward the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name,

“ Suppose your people go to war against their enemies. It doesn’t matter where you send them. And suppose they pray to you toward the city you have chosen. They pray toward the temple I’ve built for your Name.

“ If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to the Lord toward the city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name,

“ If your people go out where you send them to fight their enemies, and if they pray to the Lord by turning toward this city you have chosen and toward this Temple I have built to honor your name,

When your people go out to fight against their enemies, wherever you send them, and they pray to the LORD in the direction of the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your name,

“ When Your people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the Lord toward the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name,

If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatsoever way thou shalt send them, and they pray unto Jehovah toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name;

When Your people go out to fight against their enemies, wherever You send them, and they pray to Yahweh in the direction of the city You have chosen and the temple I have built for Your name,

If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and[ toward] the house that I have built for thy name:

“ When you direct your people to march out and fight their enemies, and they direct their prayers to the LORD toward his chosen city and this temple I built for your honor,

“ If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to Yahweh toward the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name;

Now it came about after the death of Joshua that the sons of Israel inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?”The Lord said,“ Judah shall go up; behold, I have handed the land over to him.”

“ When Your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way You send them, and they pray to You toward this city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name,

And David inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Shall I pursue this band of raiders? Will I overtake them?” And He said to him,“ Pursue, for you will certainly overtake them, and you will certainly rescue everyone.”

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Take vengeance on the Midianites for the sons of Israel; afterward you will be gathered to your people.”So Moses spoke to the people, saying,“ Arm men from among you for the war, so that they may go against Midian to execute the Lord’s vengeance on Midian.You shall send a thousand from each tribe of all the tribes of Israel to the war.”So there were selected from the thousands of Israel, a thousand from each tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.And Moses sent them, a thousand from each tribe, to the war, and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war with them, and the holy implements and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.So they made war against Midian, just as the Lord had commanded Moses, and they killed every male.They killed the kings of Midian along with the rest of those killed: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.And the sons of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and they plundered all their cattle, all their flocks, and all their property.Then they burned all their cities where they lived and all their encampments.And they took all the plunder and all the spoils, both of people and of livestock.They brought the captives and the spoils and the plunder to Moses, to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the camp at the plains of Moab which are by the Jordan, opposite Jericho.

So when the commanders of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said,“ He is the king of Israel!” And they turned aside to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him, and God diverted them from him.

And the Lord looked at him and said,“ Go in this strength of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?”

“ Moses My servant is dead; so now arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.Every place on which the sole of your foot steps, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.No one will be able to oppose you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not desert you nor abandon you.

He also rejected the tent of Joseph, And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loved.And He built His sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which He has established forever.

and he said,“ Lord, God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.Did You not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land from Your people Israel, and give it to the descendants of Your friend Abraham forever?They have lived in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your name, saying,‘ If disaster comes upon us, the sword, or judgment, or plague, or famine, we will stand before this house and before You( for Your name is in this house), and cry out to You in our distress, and You will hear and save us.’Now behold, the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, whom You did not allow Israel to invade when they came out of the land of Egypt( for they turned aside from them and did not destroy them),see how they are rewarding us by coming to drive us out from Your possession which You have given us as an inheritance.Our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”All Judah was standing before the Lord, with their infants, their wives, and their children.

So David inquired of the Lord, but He said,“ You shall not go directly up; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the baka shrubs.

But King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed about this and called out to heaven for help.

‘ Since the day that I brought My people Israel from Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house so that My name would be there, but I chose David to be over My people Israel.’

For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it as His dwelling place.“ This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

But the Lord said to Joshua,“ See, I have handed Jericho over to you, with its king and the valiant warriors.And you shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the city once. You shall do so for six days.Also seven priests shall carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, everyone straight ahead.”

“ When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses, chariots, and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you.When you are approaching the battle, the priest shall come forward and speak to the people.He shall say to them,‘ Hear, Israel, you are approaching the battle against your enemies today. Do not be fainthearted. Do not be afraid, or panic, or be terrified by them,for the Lord your God is the One who is going with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’

Now Zerah the Ethiopian went out against them with an army of a million men and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.So Asa went out to meet him, and they drew up in battle formation in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said,“ Lord, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; help us, Lord our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name have come against this multitude. Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You.”So the Lord routed the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

And the Lord sent you on a mission, and said,‘ Go and completely destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are eliminated.’

Now she sent word and summoned Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh naphtali, and said to him,“ The Lord, the God of Israel, has indeed commanded,‘ Go and march to Mount Tabor, and take with you ten thousand men from the sons of Naphtali and from the sons of Zebulun.

Now the Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not fear or be dismayed. Take all the people of war with you. Arise, go up to Ai; see, I have handed over to you the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.You shall do to Ai and its king just as you did to Jericho and its king; you shall take only its spoils and its cattle as plunder for yourselves. Set an ambush for the city behind it.”

It is the Lord your God who is going to cross ahead of you; He Himself will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua is the one who is going to cross ahead of you, just as the Lord has spoken.And the Lord will do to them just as He did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when He destroyed them.The Lord will turn them over to you, and you will do to them in accordance with all the commandments which I have commanded you.Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or in dread of them, for the Lord your God is the One who is going with you. He will not desert you or abandon you.”

So David inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You hand them over to me?” And the Lord said to David,“ Go up, for I will certainly hand the Philistines over to you.”

Now go and strike Amalek and completely destroy everything that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’ ”

So now, our God, listen to the prayer of Your servant and to his pleas, and for Your sake, Lord, let Your face shine on Your desolate sanctuary.My God, incline Your ear and hear! Open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city which is called by Your name; for we are not presenting our pleas before You based on any merits of our own, but based on Your great compassion.Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, listen and take action! For Your own sake, my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”
