If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and[ toward] the house that I have built for thy name:

“ When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to the Lord toward the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name,

“ Suppose your people go to war against their enemies. It doesn’t matter where you send them. And suppose they pray to you toward the city you have chosen. They pray toward the temple I’ve built for your Name.

“ If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to the Lord toward the city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name,

“ If your people go out where you send them to fight their enemies, and if they pray to the Lord by turning toward this city you have chosen and toward this Temple I have built to honor your name,

“ When you direct your people to march out and fight their enemies, and they direct their prayers to the LORD toward his chosen city and this temple I built for your honor,

“ If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to Yahweh toward the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name;

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;

And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake[ them], and without fail recover[ all].

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of[ every] tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of[ every] tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain;[ namely], Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.And the children of Israel took[ all] the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.And they took all the spoil, and all the prey,[ both] of men and of beasts.And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which[ are] by Jordan[ near] Jericho.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It[ is] the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them[ to depart] from him.

And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them,[ even] to the children of Israel.Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses,[ so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.And he built his sanctuary like high[ palaces], like the earth which he hath established for ever.

And said, O LORD God of our fathers,[ art] not thou God in heaven? and rulest[ not] thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand[ is there not] power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?[ Art] not thou our God,[ who] didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,If,[ when] evil cometh upon us,[ as] the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence,( for thy name[ is] in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;Behold,[ I say, how] they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes[ are] upon thee.And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up;[ but] fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

And for this[ cause] Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired[ it] for his habitation.This[ is] my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof,[ and] the mighty men of valour.And ye shall compass the city, all[ ye] men of war,[ and] go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long[ blast] with the ram’s horn,[ and] when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots,[ and] a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God[ is] with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;For the LORD your God[ is] he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD,[ it is] nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou[ art] our God; let not man prevail against thee.So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded,[ saying], Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.

The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee,[ and] he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them:[ and] Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he[ it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake.O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
