“ When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them,

“ Suppose your people have sinned against you. And because of that, the sky is closed up and there isn’t any rain. But your people pray toward this place. They praise you by admitting they’ve sinned. And they turn away from their sin because you have made them suffer.

“ When heaven is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and acknowledge your name and turn from their sin, when you afflict them,

如爾民以色列族、犯罪於爾、為敵所敗、厥後心歸乎爾、虔向此殿、以祈禱呼籲爾名、

恐耶和華震怒、使天地閉塞、霖雨不降、物產不生、雖在耶和華所賜之腴壤、而爾滅亡甚速。

爾恃強驕肆、我必毀爾、使爾天地堅若銅鐵、

伽得告大闢曰、或饑饉臨於爾土、歷至七年、或為敵追襲、歷至三月、或瘟疫流行爾國、歷至三日、爾其思之、俾我反告遣我者。

我真實告爾、昔以利亞時、天閉塞三年有半、徧地大饑、以色列民間多嫠、

二證能閉塞穹蒼、傳道時、甘霖不沛、亦能變水成血、無論其時、任意降災、

我耶和華必鞫以色列族、視人所為、降以刑罰、故當悛改、免陷於罪、以致滅亡。以色列族乎、當革爾惡行、新爾心神、奚為自取其死。人死於罪、我所不悅、故當悛改、保爾生命、我耶和華已言之矣。

亦使異邦人、為厥矜恤、而讚上帝、經云、異邦之中、余頌美爾、謳歌爾名矣、

基列之的庇人、以利亞告亞哈曰、我指所事以色列族之上帝耶和華而誓、今以後、數年間雨露不降、惟我言是聽。

望爾晝夕垂顧此殿、即爾曾許必為籲名之所、爾僕於此祈禱、爾其俯聞。凡爾僕及以色列民、祈禱於此、望爾在天上、居處之所、俯聽其祈、得蒙赦宥、

爾曹殺人、雖舉手禱告弗輟、我必不俯聞、而遐棄爾。當盥手潔心、滌爾污俗、棄惡歸善、公義是行、受人虐遇者、必加援手、孤子嫠婦、必伸其冤。

禮物灌奠、不入上帝殿、故祭司當衣衰絰、供役祭壇者當號泣、奉事我上帝者、入室衣麻、永夕不解、使人禁食、必守大會、集長老居民、入爾上帝耶和華之殿、呼籲耶和華、嗚呼哀哉、耶和華降災、其日伊邇、全能之主、殲滅是邦、維我億兆、糈糧已絕、上帝殿中、歡樂已止、種播土壤、枯而不萌、五穀不登、倉廩空虛、遂至損壞、六畜無苑、宛轉哀鳴、群羊皆斃、火燬牧場、林木皆焚、我無所望、惟籲耶和華、溪河其涸、牧場盡燬、野獸仰望於上。

耶和華為萬有之主、屢擊斯民、尚不知悛改、以求施恩、

以色列族因蹈愆尤、遂致殞沒、當歸誠爾之上帝耶和華、

人子、凡有民人、輒蹈愆尤、犯罪於我、我必罰之、使其餅餌匱乏、人畜饑餓、致於死亡、

爾所覆之天、所載之地、必堅若銅鐵。耶和華使天不降雨澤、惟降塵沙、迨爾殲滅。

若口認耶穌為主、心信上帝甦之、則得救、

耶和華必啟其嘉寶、使天降時雨於爾土、凡所作為必蒙錫嘏、列邦必稱貸於爾、而爾無庸貸。

耶利米以旱乾之事、得耶和華默示、播告於眾、曰、猶大國懷憂、邑民衰絰、哀慘靡已、耶路撒冷號呼、升聞於上。長者遣少者汲水、井泉枯竭、挈其空瓶、含羞蒙首而歸。遍地無雨、土壤燥裂、耕者抱愧、而蒙厥首。郊原無草、麀產子而遺之。野驢立於童山、噏氣若野犬、無草而目盲。耶和華與、我罪戾孔多、爾鑒察之、雖屢背爾、願爾赦宥、彰爾仁慈。

萬有之主耶和華曰、當納什一、入於府庫、使在我室、得有甘旨、以是試我、待我破天之隙、使盈餘之福、傾注而下、不可勝數。

如爾以色列族之民、獲罪於爾、為敵所敗、厥後心歸乎爾、虔向此殿祈禱、呼籲爾名、

吹角號令郇邑、使人禁食、以守大會、和會斯民、自老及幼、至於乳哺之子、即新娶者與新婦、亦當出室、祭司在耶和華前、供厥役事、當於廡下祭壇間、澘然出涕、曰、耶和華與、斯民也、本屬乎爾、求爾寛宥、不致蒙羞、為異邦人所統轄、異邦人凌侮之、曰、爾之上帝安在、亦奚以為、
