Then Solomon said,“ Lord, you have said you would live in a dark cloud.

那時所羅門說：『永恆主把日頭立在天上，但是永恆主曾經說過他要居於暗霧之中。

所羅門曰、耶和華曾云、必居於幽深之處、

所羅門曰、耶和華曾云、必居於幽深玄遠之處、

維時所羅門曰、主曾云、必居幽深玄秘之處、

Then Solomon said,“ The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud;

Then Solomon said,“ The Lord has said that he would dwell in thick darkness.

Then Solomon prayed,“ O Lord, you have said that you would live in a thick cloud of darkness.

Then Solomon said: The LORD said that he would dwell in total darkness.

Then Solomon said,“ The Lord has said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.

Then Solomon spoke:“ The Lord said He would dwell in the dark cloud.

Then spake Solomon, Jehovah hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

Then Solomon said: The Lord said that He would dwell in thick darkness.

Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

Then Solomon said,“ The LORD has said that he lives in thick darkness.

Then Solomon said,“ Yahweh has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

Clouds and thick darkness surround him. His rule is built on what is right and fair.

The Lord said to Moses,“ Speak to your brother Aaron. Tell him not to come into the Most Holy Room just anytime he wants to. Tell him not to come behind the curtain in front of the cover of the ark. The cover is the place where sin is paid for. If he comes behind the curtain, he will die. That is because I appear in the cloud over the cover.

Then Solomon said,“ Lord, you have said you would live in a dark cloud.I’ve built a beautiful temple for you. You can live in it forever.”The whole community of Israel was standing there. The king turned around and gave them his blessing.Then he said,“ I praise the Lord. He is the God of Israel. With his mouth he made a promise to my father David. With his powerful hands he made it come true. He said,‘ I brought my people out of Egypt. Since then, a temple for my Name has not been built. I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel for that purpose. And I have not chosen anyone to be ruler over my people Israel.But now I have chosen Jerusalem. I will put my Name there. And I have chosen David to rule over my people Israel.’“ With all his heart my father David wanted to build a temple. He wanted to do it so the Name of the Lord could be there. The Lord is the God of Israel.But the Lord spoke to my father David. He said,‘ With all your heart you wanted to build a temple for my Name. It is good that you wanted to do that.But you will not build the temple. Instead, your son will build the temple for my Name. He is your own flesh and blood.’“ The Lord has kept the promise he made. I’ve become the next king after my father David. Now I’m sitting on the throne of Israel. That’s exactly what the Lord promised would happen. I’ve built the temple for the Name of the Lord. He is the God of Israel.I’ve placed the ark there. The tablets of the Lord’ s covenant are inside it. He made that covenant with the people of Israel.”

Smoke came out of his nose. Flames of fire came out of his mouth. Burning coals blazed out of it.He opened the heavens and came down. Dark clouds were under his feet.He stood on the cherubim and flew. The wings of the wind lifted him up.He covered himself with darkness. The dark rain clouds of the sky were like a tent around him.

You are a God who has been hiding yourself. You are the God of Israel. You save us.

You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain. It blazed with fire that reached as high as the very heavens. There were black clouds and deep darkness.

Moses approached the thick darkness where God was. But the people remained a long way off.

These are the commandments the Lord announced in a loud voice to your whole community. He gave them to you there on the mountain. He spoke out of the fire, cloud and deep darkness. He didn’t add anything else. Then he wrote the commandments on two stone tablets. And he gave them to me.

You haven’t come to a mountain that can be touched. You haven’t come to a mountain burning with fire. You haven’t come to darkness, gloom and storm.
